Hello, I need some help :(
my camera (Ricoh Caplio GX8) is producing TIFF (YUV, not compressed) and it seems like this is a special version of TIFF not supported by Photoshop Elements 3, as I get an errormessage when trying to load this picture. Are there any additional import filters for the software to support this format ?
I can use other software to import the file and then save it in another format and import it in Photoshop, but this is not very handy.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Peter ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

This is a new one on me ... lets see if anyone else has experience of it. It does sound odd

Peter,
This looks rather complicated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YUV
Can you set the camera, so it takes images in *regular* RGB?

Peter, perhaps the software which came with your camera could make the conversion. Or else, try to shoot directly in JPEG, highest quality. If you immediately save your image in TIFF after you work on them, then the compression is really not noticeable (most of the times). Besides, it would probably save space on your memory card.

Setting the camera to RGB is not possible - there is no setting for this. I could do the conversion with a software called IrfanView. Nevertheless, I think taking the picture in JPEG and then converting it to TIFF immediately is a very good compromise, as it saves space on the memory card, operates faster, I can use the standard PE import function and finally I can select all new pictures at once and convert it to TIF in a single step.

Many thanks for the help !
