Jodi, I read the "read me" file and copied the files into the styles folder. But when I go into PE4 and look for them, I don't see them. Didn't you have some frames that were numbered. I don't see any of those though they do show up under presets/styles. Help!
Another question. I thought if I add another layer I could do the frame, etcs. on that layer but it won't let me do anything for some reason. Help!

Norma ...
Try closing down Elements and restarting it ... hopefully that will sort it out. The frames styles will show up in your Styles and Effects palette under Layer Styles.
You can do the frame on a separate layer ... what you need to do is:
Create a new layer above your image
Fill with 50% grey
now apply the layer style AND then
Change the blending mode of the layer to Overlay
the grey will vanish but the frame stay there ..
Hope this helps :)

Wendy, I closed down and went back in but don't see all of them. Will Jodi's frames show as #1, #2, etc.? I don't see many frames; looks like only the ones that were in there to begin with.
But, if I go to Windows Explorer and check in the presets/styles, they are there. So do they show up in PE4 as just color names or something to that effect. If you could tell me what a couple of them are called, I can look in PE4 and see if I can find them.

Hi- For me in PSE4, they're grouped under Layer Styles as things like: "Jodi's Frame Styles 1" and then when you select that from the layer styles drop down, you get style 1, style 2, etc...

Norma, you should be able to find them in the 'styles and effects' palette. When you open the palette what layer styles do you see ?

Norma, are you sure you copied them to the proper folder. The directory path should be as follows:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 4.0\Presets\Styles
Once they are there you can go to the Styles & Effects Palette and they will be listed below where you see Bevels & Drop Shadows, etc. If you happen to have a lot of other styles you may have to scroll down with you mouse if you have a "Scroll Mouse" otherwise use you arrow key down arrow until they show up. I've had this happen to me before. Sometimes the list is too long to show them all and there is no Scroll Bar on the right hand side of this list, so it's confusing.
I hope you get it sorted out.

They are all in the right folder because I see them. Programs/Adobe/PE4/presets/styles/
When I go into Layer Styles, I show the following
Bevels (10 of them)
Drop Shadows (8)
Inner Glows (11)
Inner Shadows (6)
Outer Glows (11)
Visibility (3)
----------------
Then you'll see, Complex, Glass Buttoms, Image Effects, Patterns, Photo Effects, Wow Chrome, Wow Neon, Wow Plastic
-------------------------------
Example under Bevels are: simple outer, simple inner, simple pillow emboss, pillow, simple sharp inner, simple sharp outer, simple sharp pillow enboss, inner edge, scallop edge, wacky metallic
I don't see anything that says Jodi's anything, or style 1, 2, 3, etc.I looked for one that said marble finish because that is listed but I don't see that either.
I've looked in every one. Any other suggestions!

Try to reset your preferences;
old down alt+shift+ctrl a half a split second after launching the 'editor' part of the program. A window will pop up askin if ya want to delete prefs..or I think they call it 'settings' now..anyways,click yes. . Re-Sart Elements.
if you don't get the pop up window...try again...it's a quick three finger duo.
Tho the preference file can be deleted manually from the files;
C >documents and settings>application data>photoshop elements>4.0>editor>photoshop preferences elements4.0>>> Delete this file. Re-start Elements
Another user had luck using the scroll wheel on his mouse to show more styles in the layers palette...weird I know.

Jodi, I just got them!!! And I don't know how it happened but I went back to the disk and called them all up again. And I'm thinking..."now what can I try this time?" So, I choose one of your frame styles and copied it figuring I'd see if one would show up. And, would you believe, when I went back into PE4to check to see if anything happened, they were all there! That was freaky because they are all showing up now. I was getting ready to delete them and try installing again. It's funny because I only tried copying one to see if I could find it in PE4 and all of them showed up.
I think an alien took over my machine for a while!
