Whatever it takes, Jodi. As long as you use a minimum of 5 out of the 8 images provided, and one of your own. Good luck to all.

This is my first and I spend all night...and not finished.
Really hard for me to think outside the box when I spend all day looking at digital scrap booking pages......one thing just leads to another...
So I need to decide what pic I am going to take and put in....and then probably will not even send the darn thing in. I did all the normall things
I got that key the lock ! i was so proud and then thought so normal.

Just wondered why no text is allowed in the Challenges? ... its just that it rules out quite a few concepts.

Because it's too easy a filler ??

I'm finding out that I need more memory. My image is quite large and I'm not ready to resize it yet...got quite a bit of lag going on. Very frustrating.

THAT would be a great 'future' prize wouldn't it ? 512mb's of memory ?

Hi Jodi,

It wasn't filling I was thinking about .. often my collage include bits of text (sticky post its, labels, books etc)

Wendy, yes i do understand that. The last challenge submission I sent in to the ' What's new with you ' challenge had a piece of yellow lined note paper on a countertop. I didn't want to use text because of the rules so i drew a little picture on it instead..in 'hopes' of describing what i wanted the text to have said. I thought it turned out kind of cute so afterwards I was thinking it was better than using text.

The "no text" rule is primarily to avoid copyright infringements (-- we don't want any corporate logos showing up, or any literary excerpts that are not in the public domain). And we don't want folks to be tempted to "explain" their work through the addition of text. This is not to say that an artsy bit of handwriting or unique use of lettering or type would necessarily be disqualified. Just be aware of the kinds of situations we'd like to avoid. Fair enough?

very very fair ! Thanks !

So no ' Mickey Mouse For President ! ' text

Wendy, ya, my head hurts. I need to 'stop' workin' on mine before it turns to mud. I'll let it sit on my HD t'il Monday without lookin at it...if that's possible and then I'll see if it still looks Ok and I'll send it in. So used to Grant's 'do in a day' challenges that this one is giving me too much time to mess it up ;)

I posted an antry earlier this week as well. It's good to see so many familiar faces ... I was just wondering, is there any way to see the entries or do we have to wait for the winners to be announced?

Hi Robin,

There isn't anywhere you can see the entries ... Last time quite a few of the images were shown along with the Winners List :) ... Hopefully they will be this time too.

Hi - the fine print on the rules includes a line that requires the "...unmodified file with all EXIF data intact".

Can someone explain what that is?

Thanks

for a reply about the EXIF data. I did it, I submitted it, I don't regret it. First time I've done anything like this. My experience with art in high school was "Not enough structure to the assignments" which is what I felt like saying to this.

Oh, well. It was fun to do..when's the next one?

Also, any chance to get a small hint (for the next challenge) about what criteria the judges use? Is it most different features/functions used, artistry, composition, color.....?

Thanks again!

EXIF data is the sort of data that your camera puts on an image. If you take a look at the filebrowser ... single click on an image then look over to the right hand side there you will see a panel that contains all sorts of info about your image.

I do agree that this challenge was fun .. I know what you mean about unstructured, but that simply gives you the chance to head off in any direction you want. When I do things like this I usually have no idea of a direction but somewhere along the line it just happens :)

All I can say after seeing all the collages is WOW!!!!!! I was truly amazed!!! I am so glad that ALL the entered collages were put up for us to see as they were all so fabulous. I was amazed with how many people put the sleeping woman in the blue bottle. The thought never even crossed my mind. Congratulations to all as each collage was fabulous and so creative. Boy do I have a long way to go. Truly an inspiration.

Congratulations Jodi for your first prize winning, and of course Wendyand the others.
