Picture Window Pro, ACDSee and QImage
16 bit
Full manipulation possible
Better than Elements
Doesn't use "layers" but has it's own equivalent
Full colour management in the 3 programs-better than Elements
Good printing in QImage
Good RAW conversion and File management in ACDSee
Why do I use Elements
-magazine support, makes better tutorials, easier learning curve.
I expect to stop Elements in favour of PWPro as I develop. Not interested in Photoshop
not happy at being locked out of subscribers area.
If they don't want me, why do I want them?

Ummm ...
I guess I wouldn't use anything else :(
Photoshop & Elements have many advantages and one of the big ones it that there is just such much available on the internet for them ... Brushes, Custom Shapes, Styles, Gradients, Tutorial ... hey there are a million and one things out there. I don't think that anyother softeware package has the same sort of support ...

In the past, I used Photosuite (before it was part of Roxio), Picture It, Roxio Easy Media Creator 7, (and whatever other editing software that came with my computer). Actually, Adobe elements 2 came bundled with my computer software, but I didn't understand layers and it scared me off. A couple of years ago, I started editing home movies from my camcorder, using Roxio ESM 7, but it was buggy and unstable. I started looking around and liked what PSE had to offer, and then I found this site, with all the available support and took the plunge. I have not been dissappointed with the software or the support.:D :D :D
Edit: I have not and will not go back to Roxio ESM 7. It just doesn't compare.

I agree with Wendy...doubt if I would use anything else besides PE, like Wendy said, trying getting good support for any other product, anywhere else!

I agree with Wendy and Rookie. I do keep Microsoft Digital Image on the computer, though, just because they have such good templates for printing Avery products.

oh ya.....I have Print Master for the Avery templates but that's as far as it goes...I do the work in Elements and abuse Print Master for it's templates for business cards etc...

Without doubt PaintShop Pro, any version after 7, is far better than Elements 4 almost as powerful as CS but a bit clunckier to use and and at an extremely attractive price. I use it in conjuction with Elements 3 and CS. The only problem is it is not a Mac program so this would leave some of our brothers and sisters out in the cold.

What I used to use was pathetic compared to Elements 3.0. Can't imagine life with money left over with anything else.

While it seems to me that everyone provides you with an honest answer to every question you have asked, personally you are trying my patience!! I see no redeeming feature in your questions and in my opinion you add no value to this forum. I thought by answering your first questions I was providing some information that might be of use to you and others, but the answer to one question just seems to generate another unrelated question. The suffix to your name HAHA tells me that you are not being serious with this forum, and are treating it with disdain or you would provide a name that we could relate to.
Posters such as yourself have been known to haunt Woodworking forums that I subscribe to as well. The forum administrators make quick work of posters such as you by taking away their posting privileges.
I am a senior, a new user to PSE 3, and am attempting to glean information which will assist me in using PSE 3. Maybe my patience factor is not as great as some of the more respected posters whose names I hesitate to submit, but we all know who they are.
Would you senior and more respected forum posters, kindly set me straight if I am venturing too far afield. I respect and value your honest opinions.

Mack-
I COMPLETELY respect your OPINION.
Now PLEASE respect mine.
I am in no way trying to make a mockery of this forum. I am new to photoshop with many questions and IN MY OPINION...A forum is supposed to form on-line friendships with people on the internet with the same sort of interests.
The HAHA stands for everyone seeking the same thing...A perfect picture (no such thing)
Just because I actually care about others opinions don't assume that I have a negative motive.
I am having alot of fun in this forum and have made a few on-line friendships already.
So please keep your negativity to a minimum as I am a subscriber and have recently joined for two years. I also attended the Elements Summit in Orlando Florida which is not a short drive from me.
I sincerely hope this changes your opinion of me however like I said you are entitled to your opinion.
Your opinion will not change me or will it make me seek your approval.
I will continue to ask alot of questions and learn from others and help others when I can.
I am sorry you feel the way you do.

Well HAHA; at least you know my name, my age, my place of residence, and my face, that's more than we can say about you.
Something to HIDE?

Nearly or maybe more powerful than - full Photoshop - free and open source.
I got PSE4 for 30 bucks US after rebates. Been using mainly for photo darkroom.
- No photo on my profile either - was getting to many bills in the mail for busted monitors :)

All you have to do is ask....I have nothing to hide and would prefer to be friends rather than argue with you..
My name is Robert...I have posted that several times before this post because someone asked...I reside in The United States in Florida...I am in my late 30's....I own my own business which I started six years ago.
Does all this change your opinion of me or are you still going to be negative towards me?

Well I went to the site -- but it lost me when I went to the FTP site, so many folders and files that I couldn't figure it out.

The only problem is it is not a Mac program
Thought of asking Corel about it? If enough users ask for it, Corel might realize there's a potential market. And since the Macintosh market is expanding, it would make the move more sensible.

Photoshop.
Because it can be as productive as I want to be (actions)
As forgiven as need it to be (history brush, undo palette with snapshots)
As creative as I feel (brush engine)
As cooperative as one would expect (PSD readable everywhere)
But, also and foremost, because after 3 years, I still learn a new thing about it every week :D

For me Elements 3 is just perfect. By the time I learn a bit more about all this there will probably be an Elements 5 and I will upgrade. What makes me love the fact I am working with Elements are these forums, the wonderful people (99.9%) and all the fantastic help I get. Also, being on the West Coast I miss many of the conversations but I do know that I can log on anytime and find friendly help. So I will be sticking with Elements.

Does all this change your opinion of me or are you still going to be negative towards me?
Hi Robert; I have no opinion of you personally. Negativity is in the eyes of the beholder; since I don't agree with you, it's me that is negative in your opinion. You're entitled to that opinion, and I respect that.
I took exception to your incessant questions which have very little or nothing to do with PSE 3. I don't recall seing a post of yours that questions a use of Elements, are you really using it? Show some of your work in a gallery. Show a new and different way to use PSE 3, but get off the mundane questions.
As far as you being a suscriber with a 2 year subscription etc., big deal, alot of us are.
It's wasn't my intention to have the last word in a discussion, but felt it was necessary so you understand completely where I'm coming from.
To all the Forum Members that are following along with this discussion, I sincerely apologize. I belong to a number of forums and this one is by far the friendliest and most helpful of the lot.
I am sorry to clutter it up with matters such as this, but at this juncture in my life I calls them the way I sees them.
And to those who sent PMs, I thank you for the support!

OK Mack-
Lets try this again. Even though I would like to (I will refrain from commenting on your last message) Like Wendy said shake hands and move on. My hand is out if you would like to be friends if not it's your loss.
As far as my gallery...Like I said I am new to PSE and will post a gallery when I have something decent to post.
As far as the picture of you I am guessing that was you holding a baby with a beer in you hand?
I am not here to make enemies just friends. If you don't agree with me on how I post or any comments I make thats fine I will be more than happy to discuss anything with you. If after that you still are not happy (seems to be the case) Let's just agree to disagree.
In the future maybe you should PM your ugly comments to someone you think may have something to hide. I do not. I really think you could have handled this situation alot better.
Thanks Robert
