 I must be really loosing it. I have tried this oh so simple tut 3 times now and starting at step 4 all goes amuk....I use Elements 4, so in step 5 I have to CTRL click another layer to link (Shape 2 & 1), then in step 6 I'm to use the magic wand to select white area in Shape 2, then backspace to delete pixels (to "cut a hole"_ in the slide shape). Well when I do that all I get is the Shape 1 color no hole punched out. It must be something so simple that I'm missing or not realizing.......help, I feel like I fell down and can't get up, can do harder project, but can't complete this simple one.

Hi Valerie ...

I will just go and take a look at the tutorial and see if I can help you. I just sent you a pm about something else :)

Will come back on the slide mount in a few minutes ..

Valerie- Did you merge them after you linked them??I missed that step the first time, and I don't see it in your workflow above.

Hi Valerie ...

Step 5 ... once you have linked the two shape layers together did you merge the two layers together?

Hi Kay ...

Guess we were typing at the same time ... but looks like we both came up with the same idea :)

The tut doesn't mention merge till step 9. I'll try merge as you suggested in Step 5. Thx

OOPS does say to merge --control E, but still nothing happened

got it, got it, got it, have to learn to go a little slower when pushing button (not like typing at work) and look in the layers pallete to see results. Thx Kay & Wendy, you guys have saved me quite a few times. Hope I can return the favour someday.:)

Yea! Glad you got it to work. I'm glad to help in a small way, because I learn a ton from this forum. Looking forward to seeing your finished slide mount project...:)
