I have seen a lot in the Forum about Elements and burning to CD/DVD. I will be needing this soon, so this afternoon I decided to take a look for myself and was surprised at what I found (Windows, Elements 3.0, Organizer, Create, Slideshows (both Custom and Simple).
Simple Slideshow. Quality good. Quickest, basic features of transition and timing (different choices, but one setting for all photos), need to SAVE, only result is a PDF Slideshow which can be saved in Documents and which can be burned to CD or DVD from there with the software that my CD/DVD Writer came with.
Custom Slideshow. This is where it gets interesting. Quality good. Slower, features added included individual transition and timing and music. In the end, I could produce a good quality Slideshow burned to a CD or DVD, but it took a bit to get there.
The File/Burn route and the burning to DVD were tricky. At one point I was tempted to EXPORT the .wmv file from the Organizer and burn the file to disc from Documents with my Writer's burning software, but......
File/Burn route (which included writing of .wmv file, followed by burning) just did not work for me. What did work was: File/Output as WMV, then go back to the newly generated .wmv file in the Organizer, then go File/Burn, followed by Steps 1, 2, and 3 of the Burn/Backup Dialog Box.
The next hurdle was burning to DVD. Well, not so much DVD as DVD-R or DVD+R and that multisession business. Elements burning process would only accept a blank DVD-R to continue. I could not locate adjs for multisession.
With either Nero or Record Now burning software, multisession option is available and you have to commit the disc before use to multisession or you cannot use the disc again after the inital burning. With the DVD-R disc committed to multisession by Record Now and Nero, Elements burning refused to recognize it as multisession. It insisted on a blank DVD-R to continue.
Does anyone know if there is a multisession option in the burning in Elements 3.0 and/or 4.0?
At this point, I have satisfied myself that a good quality Slideshow can be produced in Elements 3.0. I have read through most of the Forum posts on this topic, but any additional comments would be appreciated.
