I have no business looking in advanced Forum but, I need some really clear advanced help !
I did not clue in............ to the fact that one must use Move command and so moved hundreds of files by hand after going through all the effort of learning editing. could someone step me through Reconnecting Missing files. I am too nervous and toooooooo novice to understand what PSE3 Help is telling me to do. I can not make a slide show or burn a CD with out every picture coming up Reconnect Missing files. I would be soooooooooo greatful. NO one in beginner Forum has helped me thus far. Crossing my fingers for an answer.

Joan,

Just click "File" and select "Reconnect" and then "All Missing Files" and then be patient. It may take some time. You do this in the Organizer of course.

I understand the concern. When it did happen to me after some time of dealing with it I chose to simply delete those files. I know that doesn't sound conducive with learning intentions but I saw it as a hump to get over. Soon you will learn to find the desired images and in the process you will develop a style of use taylored to your pattern.

Until you get a good answer this is a way to mave on with your learning.

I wish you much luck and say hang in there and just keep the ole chin up.

Hey Joan,

I haven't gotten use to using the Organizer in PSE to manage my files and still move files around in My Documents on the PC, so this happens to me all the time. (The Organizer loses the link to the file because it's been moved.) First, if you decide to delete the files from the Organizer as suggested in one of the posts, you'll be removing it from an Organizer "catalog". Whatever you do, don't (DO NOT) check the box that also deletes it from the computer. Just deleting it from a catalog in the Organizer doesn't delete it from you computer and is really no big deal (as long as you don't check that little box that also tells the computer to delete the file!). You can then use Get Photos in Organizer to pull them back into the Organizer and into your catalog from where ever you moved them. It may take a little time but may be less confusing and less hassle than trying to reattach them - just my opinion. Photosho Elements Classroom in a Book does a nice job of explaining all of this. (Available for both PSE3 and PSE4).

I hope this helps.

If you know where you put the pictures and its not tooo many palces, you can just use the Get Photos from files ( use the highest folder and tell it to get from sub-folders also ) and it will reconnect or find new and will not duplicate files already in Organizer (unless you renamed outside of Organizer). The reconnect works well, you just have to be patient as mentioned above.
