I WISH there had been a pop up warning before I renamed 284 different edited picutures. Being new to PSE and computers in general using the "move command" escaped my notice. This point should be stressed vigorously! Being a newbee............I haven't got enough understanding to do what HELP reconnecting missing files is telling me to do. I keep getting : Searching for missing files . Now I can not make a slide show or a CD. WHAT DO I DO ?
Delete the whole program and start over?

I am in Album (precursor to Organizer). I once renamed a folder in Windows without thinking about it. I ended up renaming it back to the original name, making a new folder (in windows) with the preferred name, then using File>Move from Album(Organzier) in folder view to batch move all the files in the old folder to the new folder. Then I deleted the old folder from windows.
I have heard that folder management is easier with PSE 3 & 4 than in Album.
If it is simple, undo what you did and redo it from within Organizer.
Sometimes reconnect just takes time. Album offers the option to browse to find the missing files by hand. Do you have that option?

Yes, but if you had been doing it within Organizer you wouldn't have needed it and I doubt Windows wants a generic pop up that renaming may affect other programs. Everyone does it a few times before they learn not to.

Joan,
Reconnecting is a simple process, but as Karin said, it can take some time. Click File>Reconnect>All Missing Files...and then go do something else for a while.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice.
So............. I am in PSE 3 Organizer ; I have highlighted all the tagged catigories that I want.................then I do the click File > Reconnect > all missing Files and wait untill it is all over.
Just getting it all clear in my pixelled pea brain, you understand.
Have you ever burned a CD from a slide show that you can make on PSE ?
That is my NEXT big question. ??????
Thanks for your help Joan
