I think I got it - blending

Hey all - I think I finally got how to do blending -- well, kind of... I still have much to learn. Tell me what you think.

This pic is of my wife. I snapped this shot of her making this face that looks like she is smelling a flower (I have no idea what she was actually doing). She is "smelling" nothingness -- air. I blended it so that the look made more sense (now she looks like she is enjoying the flower).

Thanks Nancy, Ray, Eva, and Kev! I've really been struggling with getting this down. I'm still working with the fine points, but I think I'm getting closer.

I'd still like to know how to do more of a fade from one to the other. I know Wendy did a tut on that. I'll go back and look at that. Is there a key point to fading around one element that simplifies what I need to know? Feathering, or the type of brush, or ????

Thanks Kay -- Very helpful!! For some reason I have this idea in my head that if I can get blending/fading down, then most of the other things I want to try will come much easier. I hope to get some time this evening to try more. It's that or work on taxes. I don't think I feel like working on taxes tonight.
