I am attempting to do Wendy's tutorial on Making a Simple Globe. I am at the point where she says to Free Transform the Highlight Layer. When I try this I can't get mine to look like her Figure F. Can someone explain this to me??
What are the steps to get it to look like hers?
Thanks.

Hi Garry

I'm sure Wendy will be alone soon, but in the mean time maybe I can help. I am just wondering if it is the marching ants selection line you are worried about? If so don't worry about the selection line just look at the overall shape and click on a corner or middle node while holding the ctrl key and shape as needed. My selection line does not bend as Wendy's as well but I can make the same shape.

I think it has to do with whether you added a blank layer to make your highlight gradient on or duplicated a layer. If duplicated the marquee will bend as in Wendy’s tutorial but if you started with a blank layer the marquee line is straight across the middle.

Hi Garry ...

I suspect that when I did the tutorial I dragged the gradient further down than you did ... so the curve is coming from the bottom edge of the circle (which was selected when I did the gradient)

It doesn't matter if its curved or straight ... both should work OK :)

Jan, I gave Wendy permission to have a week off ;) Remember she will probably come back full of new ideas and we will all benefit from that :D

Oh, and last time Wendy went on vacation, we got ?three new tutorials in mere hours. So, it's really a good thing in the long run!:D

Have a great trip and look forward to many more tutorials when you get back. Also remember a vacation is to rest and relax but also to take lots and lots of photos.

Have a great time!
