Well its been a while since we had one of these ... and on Sunday I am going away for a week .. so I thought I would leave you something to play with whilst I am away :) .

Our last one was Fun with faces ... so lets carry on with the theme and do beards and hair.

Here is the link to the hair brushes:

http://www.creativemac.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=19869

Just download them and install them into Elements ..... and here is the link to the hair tutorial ...

http://www.creativemac.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=19756-2

OK .... its written for Photoshop ... but no problems at all to do it in Elements. Just change your brush size in the normal manner and paint on the hair :)

Enjoy ..... Instant hair :)

Wendy, the hotels that I use on business all have Internet access - and some have free high-speed wireless! My laptop has both a modem and a wireless card, so I'm never disconnected for long... :D

Had to laugh when I saw this idea.
What I actually need worse is a "no-hair" brush!

(introducing....my hubby)

I did download the brushes (from a different source with a normal zip file.)
Maybe I can use it to draw a strange bedfellow instead?

Thanks Wendy. Have fun....wherever it is you're going.

Kerri,

Oh that is really wonderful .... :) :)

So maybe you will need to use a photo of someone else :)

No, it's not really that wonderful. lol

I actually did play around on an actor's face I had handy. Need a lot more practice before I post that one.

Kerri,

Make sure that you do it on a separate layer ... or lots of separate layers and if you move the brushes in a arc shape (to match the shape of the jaw) then the hair goes in the right direction.

Experiment with a smallish brush but use sweeping strokes (almost from ear to ear).

P.S. so where ARE you going?

Wendy

Hi Kerri,

I'm going down to the South Coast of England to a place called Brixham in Devon ...

Kerri ...

I just noticed that you said you downloaded the brushed from elsewhere .... Did you have problems downloading the brushes from the link?

Anyone else had problems?

My system didn't like the download file so I googled for "hair brushes" and found a regular .zip.

If someone else needs the brushes from somewhere else I can try to find the place. or just google "nagel photoshop hair brushes"

Your site said the following:
""This week's brush collection is compressed using Stuffit from Aladdin Systems. The Stuffit Expander is a free utility for Macintosh, Linux , Windows and Solaris that can be downloaded here. Chances are you already have it on your system. If not, download and install it. You can also configure your browser to decompress files of the ".sit" type automatically using Expander.""

Kerri,

Thanks for that ... you are a star.

Now if anyone else has problems they can follow your instructions :)

There are quite a few of the hair/fur brushes in the set. Jodi does some wonderful furry things and I think she uses the Nagel brushes ...

Wendy,
Have a nice holiday.
I've had quite a few holidays in Brixham. It's a beautiful place.
Not too many Devon Cream Teas although they are hard to resist :!:
For our American friends, they are scones split and filled with rich strawberry jam (jelly?) and thick Devon cream.
Come back safely.

Kev, while Wendy might appreciate you telling her to have a nice holiday, it might also make her sad! LOL The original post was done in FEB!
I'm working my way thought the 'hair tutorials on the site, but also hoping to find some zip brushes so that I don't have to down load the other thing needed to open them. The brushes looks good, and many times I've needed hair and doing it yourself just doesn't work as well.

Thanks Wendy! Received and put into elements. Now I must go and check them out. I guess I avoid looking at brushes because I'm not sure which ones will be compatible. The series 30 ones though did specifically say they would work in elements. Hmmmm I wonder if Gary needs some hair on the top of his bald head??

Pauline

I think I just need some stuffing

Wendy

Have you noticed a Nagel brush "pack" in your travels.... I only have seen the individual sets. It would be nice to have sets of 5 or something as one download.

Pauline

 Just playing around with the new hair brushes!! Hey the curly one could look like stuffing. I like the fur brushes too!
Now to continue exploring.

Same here.. just wondering if there was an all encompasing download..with all 30?

Pauline
November 7th, 2005, 08:21 PM
Gary I downloaded one today series 30 that has skin, feathers, scales fuzz, fluff. Pretty cool! I could have used the skin one for when I made my son bald. Would have looked more realistic than the gaussian blur. Now I must go find that picture of my friend that needs hair! I'm sure he would love to receive it at work tomorrow. I could become popular.

Eva ...

Well you now have tuts for "hair removal" and "adding hair" ... so it should be a simple matter to sort that out. Now that is one photo I would love to see :) :)
