I have the opportunity to buy a new Wacom Graphire3 tablet at a good price, but it comes bundled w/PSE2. I already have PSE3. Are there any compatability issues I need to worry about? Or any other reason to buy one that comes with PSE3?

Thanks!

You don't need to install PSE2 if you have 3 already so there's no problem. You will probably want to download the latest tablet drivers for bug fixes and improvements but that's about all.

As the software change, companies try to bundle the latest version, or one that covers the broadest audience (PSE3 is currently the latest version on the Macintosh).

So go ahead, buy that one!

Thanks guys, I was hoping you'd say that! I'll be back with more questions once I get it and play around with it a bit.

Carol : Just one more thing... A tablet requires a little practice (and in some cases, like mine, a lot), so don't be discouraged if yours doesn't give you satisfaction after 10 minutes of use.. it's ok, keep practicing !

Anyone Canadian - I was in Staples today asking about the tablet. They do not carry them. Does anyone know where I might look at them and approximately how much they cost Cdn. I am not really in a hurry though as I have so much to learn - and thought maybe if I wait a while they will bundle PE4!!!!

Future Shop / Best Buy offer them (one model only, though). CompuSmart (I don't know if these stores exists outside Ontario / Quebec). Any graphics specialized store will carry them (i.e. look for an Apple authorized dealer, they're likely to have all the line, including Intuos and Cintiq).

And on www.ebay.ca

I purchased my tablet from Buy.com - they usually have very good prices on electronics AND quick shipping! They also had several styles/models available.

As well as Rays suggestions...
I know a camera store chain around this area has one or two, as well as some computer stores (mostly the kinds the modders go to for parts and such)

Gary !!!!!!!

It's not imcompetence... it's the lack of proper excercising time. Now, get the kids to do the chores... dad needs to catch up with his Wacom.. :D

Chores...ya right

One thing that helped me a bit.. I forced myself to use it for a few days while I was browsing and doing other computer things (non elements) sort of a mouse replacement. I got a lot more comfortable with it while doing just regulsr point anc click type of stuff.

Gary,

That's the only way to go. Anyone new should put their mouse in a drawer and use the Wacom pen for a week. Else, the reflex to bring back the mouse when thigns don't go ok is too strong.
