Hi, I am new to Elements 4, and am a bit confused about how to edit faces.

I have found out how to use the airbrush for spots etc, and how to whiten teeth.

I am now trying to change skin texture/colour, like people do on the photography forums. When I take pics of pale babies, they often have very discoloured skin and the "change skin colour" option does not seem to do much, so I find myself painting large areas with the brush ??

Is there an easier way ?????

Rob,

I think you can make some decent adjustments by selecting the face, feathering the selection some, and then adjusting hue and saturation. Perhaps you can solve the pale skin by adding some red?

Changing the texture, you can use the blur tool, at a very low setting (to begin, like 50%).

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum!:)

Can I suggest that you look into Dave's online photo retouching class? Tons of great info on all sorts of retouching. You can check it out on the home page.:)

Hi ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

I tend to find that the best way to deal with patchy skin colours in babies is to create a new layer above the image, set the layers blending mode to colour then sample a good area of skin and paint over all of the skin using that colour.
