Can't start Elements 3 anymore

Last weekend I started getting the "This styles file is bad or corrupt" message reffered to in a few other strings. I have tried the delete preferences route but with no effect. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the programme, also with no effect. It also effects Elements 2. Can anyone offer a solution, preferably in very simple easy to understand words as I'm not all that good at the tech talk.

Hi Stephen,

Do you know which Styles file is corrupt? If you are using Windows I can email that file (or the whole Styles folder) to you. Again, if you are on Windows, make sure that you delete your temporary Windows files. If you want the Styles file, then send me your email address in a Private Message.

Hi Stephen ...

You said that you had unistalled and then re-installed and it was still the same.

Have you tried deleting the prefs file ... its just thatan unistall & re-install doesn't remove the prefs file.

Its worth a try ..

To do that close down Elements then click on the Editor start up icon and quickly hold down the Control, Alt and Shift keys (If you are a Mac user Apple, Alt and Shift). Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes.

Tried that Wendy, no luck. The whole thing just sits there and stares at me for ages, then says it couldn't launch.

I've sent you an email... the Styles folder is 12Mb even when zipped, do you have MSN Messenger - we can exchange the file that way.

I e-mailed you but I'm not sure if you got it. I'm not currently on Messenger so if you can e-mail me the files in small bits that would help. Alternatively if I install PE3 on another machine, then copy the Styles folder onto a disk and copy back onto my machine, would that work?

Sorry, I have been away for a few days with work...

I sent the file but your ISP bounced the email as it was too big (I thought that might happen).

Which styles file should I copy? I tried 1 from presets/styles, but that didn't work. Any suggestions as to which I should copy?
