Question on the Organiser

Hi all from a newbie with PE4.

Images downloaded into the Organiser main window. I then tag them as you do. If I delete the image thumbnails from the main window the thumbnails are also deleted from the tag list. Why? I should not need to have the same thumbnail twice or information for that thumbnail held for 2 or more 'locations'. I have hundreds of images displaying in the main window. OK, it does not take long to scroll through them but why do they still have to be all available having been tagged once or more:confused: ?

I cannot get my head around that. Any help appreciated thanks.

Hi John,

I think this is one of things that is "just the way it is." If the thumbnail is deleted from the Organizer, it no longer exists as far as the Organizer is concerned.

Do you mean delete an image from your Catalog in Organizer?

I should not need to have the same thumbnail twice or information for that thumbnail held for 2 or more 'locations'.
You should only have one thumbnail for each image... your photos can only exist once in Organizer... Do you have dupliact thumbnails for the same image then..?

Hi Mike and thank you both for your replies.
I mean if I delete a thumbnail in the main window the same thumbnail is deleted from the one attached to a tag. What I do not need is a window full of hundreds of thumbnails once they have all been tagged. There seems no point in having both.

Each image in Organizer only has one thumbnail... the way Organizer works is information about your images is held in a database called the Catalog. This database contains things like the name of the file, where it is stored on your PC, a low resolution thumbnail... plus the tags you apply to that image. Each file on your PC can only exist once in the Catalog. So if you remove an image from the Catalog, it will delete all traces of that file from Organizer.

Can you see two thumbnails for the same image?

Attaching the Hidden tag to a selection of thumbnails does what I want if I also have the thumbnails tagged with their own special tag.
