Work-around for extraction?

Hi Folks,
I know PS has a neat way of selecting hard to select items by using the extraction method. Is there any way of doing this with Elements?

Elements doesn't have anything like the Extract but there ar many other methods you can use (it alll depends on the image which one would be best) ....

Elements does have the Selection Brush which Photoshop doesn't ... and that tool is quite good :)
