Time to switch gears again. The theme for this week is a sign. Maybe its a strange translation, a sign for a local product or landmark, or maybe just a bit of funky neon. Have fun with it.

I thought this would be a nice sign for this but had no idea how to set my camera. The neon sign is in a second story window so not only is there noise but key-stoning. How does one shoot neon?

Well, I wasn't ever planning on posting this picture as it was made up for a 10 year old who liked trains and potty humor. However, I think that since it was already "in the can" (pun intended) I submit it for your disgust.

I know I am only supposed to put in one entry but this is a photo taken at Eucla near the border of Western Australia and South Australia but still in Western Australia. Ceduna, Port Augusta and Port Lincoln are all in South Australia.

Man, where are the signs? Maybe everyone is burnt out after the Valentines. I'll follow Karen's lead and put in one more, hoping others might add theirs. This was a sign I thought was cool, and simple, taken in Salt Lake City in late September 2001.

Not many signs so I thought I would dig this one out. It was taken a few years ago in Ireland. We thought it was amusing....... 11 kms to An Daingean - left or right - take your pick.

ok so this my first attempt at a photo assignment. i thought i had the perfect sign only do discover its no longer there... after i snapped this pix and got home i realized the distractions in the pix. it was taken outside of the science center and the traveling exhibit is aviation so that's what seen at the top of the picture and the reflection is of the inner harbor. sorry, first tymer with the new camera.

More than one of us has nearly ran off the highway trying to read this huge monitor. Installed last summer at a large motel complex it's paying for itself - for $25.00 you can display any message you'd like.

Unfortunately it did not photo well - probably should have been further away & and at a different time when the sun didn't interfere. I'm assuming that's what the problem was?

I was going to take a run at it again in the dark tonite until I heard the temperature - 46F below zero, no wind chill. Forget that! And it's supposed to be this way all weekend, so I'm submitting my "signless" sign.

Too bad, it can be quite spectacular with colour and graphics - Valentine's Day was really pretty with all the red graphics - way too cold that day as well.

I guess it's okay to post more.

I found a tsunami sign at the other end of town. There had been one near the chamber of commerce but maybe they were afraid of scaring tourists.

Here's one a friend painted for her business. I love the dash-hound.

I wish to include another sign which is actually a number of signs in combination. These relics of an earlier time are vanashing as our city grows; it is interesting to see what was once on building walls before billboards and other advertising methods became prevelant. This was taken next to our YMCA.

Hi,guys!I went digging thru my mom's old photos for a sign, but all I could find was this one, taken of my grandmother on her wedding trip in Sept.,1911.They were on their way to Port William/Fort Arthur, now known as Thunderbay,Ontario. That was quite a trip in those days.Grandma was from Petrolia,Ontario (home of the first commercial oil well in North America!),and Grandpa's people were from Kincardine, near Goderich,Ontario, although his folks moved to Windsor by 1880.

Here's one near my house for a local beer. I had to clone out an obnoxious gas meter that was in the middle of the shot.

This one is getting harder to see with the ivy but it still is visible as an upholstery shop.

Hope it's ok to add another!I just remembered this one that I took in October from the Art Gallery of Windsor.Man,talk about marketing pull-now the hotels are appealing to a higher authority for ad space!Talk about going up in the world!
(Is that a UFO looking for a parking space?)
