Any one else having problems with 10.3.6 {mac} and elements 3 - Load from FC and it locks up - need to press reset [force quiet doesn't even work]. Trashed pse3 several times and reloaded but to no avail. I believe the problem is in my iBook so will keep you informed of what solutions I achieve.

The problem continues- When I open pse 3 and try and down load images via the open file and if I select more then one the iBook w/10.3.6 locks up. But the lock up is only with pse 3 and not with the rest of the machine. I can get on the web and open other progrtams but if the pointer comes in contact with screen where pse 3 is then I get the spinning beach ball. I can close all programs via the normal method but when it comes to pse 3 even force quit does not work. only a pin in the side. http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ubb/smile.gif [and it hurts too] Will speak to PS tomorrow and will stop by Apple store also.

Harry,
It just occurred to me that maybe you haven't run permissions verify/permissions fix via Disk Utility on your hard drive since your PSE 3 install. If after a clean restart, using the apple menu restart command, that doesn't work, run the same checks from your Panther install disks(Disk Utility can be accessed through the upper menus at the first page of installation) on CD boot. To boot your computer off your CD, restart your computer, then press the button C while it's starting up.

Southpaw, I think you got it. What I did do was wak into the Local Apple store and Cory Benavides did what you suggested. What I asked him to do was put back 'Image
Capture' but he cleaned-up my system and reinstalled all the Apple application. He asked if I need all those printer drivers and the foreign langauges {about 1 gb of stuff} -now they are gone. Then he set the disk to work. While I was in the store another Apple employee showed me that I could just double click on an image in iPhoto and it would bring up elemens 3. _Go to preferences in iPhoto and up pops a screeen that allows you to double click on a iPhoto and it will bring up another program. cool.
Continue - no HP driver now - so tried to down load from HP but Vise locks up - so back to Apple tomorrow - will keep you informed. Again, Southpaw thanks for your interest.

Harry,
When you use iPhoto 4.03, you have got to try the film roll option in the View menu. It's the best. There's nothing like it I tell you.

Southpaw - that is a cool feature; always good idea to check what is under those menu items..
As far as my computer problem -[at times i think I move to fast for the computer computation; as I jump ahead and try the next step if no real action is taking place]. Well the story is I have 98 JPEG's and tried to down load them and the spining beach ball {mac talk} just kept the computer in limbo for so long that I felt a lock up had taken place. I tried loading a FC from another camera and all worked fine then reformated CF in 20D and made 30 shots and those loaded fine. Could the CF card with images appear ok in camera but not appear ok to down load?
Will check with Apple again Tues.

imagemaker,
I'm going to give you some advice. OS X needs to be maintained just as often as Windows XP. Everyone thinks that when they go to OS X, that for some magical reson, the computer never has to be maintained... which will keep any computer running at it's own healthy speed. You've got to get out those os x install disks and boot off of your installation CD by restarting with the installation CD in the drive, and holding the key C down during the restart. When you're at the install prompt, go up to the menus at the top of the screen, and find Disk Utility on one of the menus. Run Verify Disk Permissions, then after that is done, run Repair Disk Permissions.
If you did this correctly, your computer should perform better.
If you have Norton Utilities 8.0, you can defragment your hard disk from a CD boot. The thing to remember though, is that you want to run disk utilities off of another drive than your primary hard drive.(You might want to run Disk Doctor before you run Speed Disk)
Well, if all that went well, your computer should be much faster.

Solved Problem {and it is always the easist} just down loaded from 20D to ibook via wire -used 'image capture'. Images carried across OK.
Not sure why reader would not work with that card but did with all others . Reformated and now works also. a bug that is now gone.
Wedding images intact. http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ubb/smile.gif Now having great time with elements 3 and trying out all aspects of the software.
Thanks for all your input - gave me courage to keep trying.
