I went and splurged and got me a PSE 4 last week! I've been simply just playing around and conquered a problem with my text, For the life of me I can not make text appear on my picture or a blank page? Is there anyway someone could guide me step by step as to how to do it. I have reinstalled the program read the text turorial and checked for updates. My harddrive is only half full so I have plenty space for it. I'm thinking maybe I'm just missing something? I'd be very happy for any assistance you can give me. I have been using PSP9 and upgraded it to X should I remove both of these programs even though I don't want to?

Hello and welcome to the Forums, Maikku!

When you click on the Text tool (the T in the tool palette), make sure that the plain black filled T is selected at the top option bar.

If this doesn't work, then maybe you should reset the tool. At the top option bar, again, click on the first T (to the left). You'll have a flyout menu with two items, one is reset tool. Use this one.

Report back if it doesn't solve your issue.

Hi Maikku ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

Try this out for me ..

Press D to return your colours to the default
Now do File>New>Blank File> 800 pixels x 800 pixels, 300 resolution, RGB, White.
Now Select the text tool (and as Ray said make sure that the plain black T is selected)
Now choose Ariel Black, Regular, 30 points and type

Here is a screen shot of it ...

Do let us know if this works OK for you :)

PS ... Don't ever feel silly for asking questions :)

Maikku

I was not sure if you were new to Photoshop Elements or just Photoshop Elements 4.0. If new to Elements and you have tried other things without success, here are two of the pitfalls that I "?occasionally?" encounter when using Elements 3.0:

(1) Selection and Positioning of Layers. Layer on top of T-Layer, hiding Text.
(2) Foreground Color. White Text on White Background, Black Text on Black Background, that sort of thing.

If you have dealt with Elements prior to 4.0, then please excuse these offerings intended for a new Elements user.

:D I can do it, can do it. Thank you for all your help! Resetting all the tools fixed it for me. I allready learned some tricks from you guys like the pressing D to get default colors. Lol! Again thanks a bunch I'm off today and it is cold outside. I'll be glued to my pc for sure. Can't wait to learn more about this program.;)
