Just looking for some new ideas...I would also love to see before and after photo's as well.

Ok it dosen't have to be your favorite..lol Just a few things you like to do.

PS How do I upload images into this forum?

First, go to the User CP (CP = Control Pannel) and chose Edit Option (on the left). Then, at the complete bottom, choose the Enhance interface.

After that, once you start writing message, you'll have the option at the top to attach a file (the little paper clip at the top of the message window).

A window will open with the limitations as well as the buttons to upload a file.

Hope this helps!

What shall we call you, HaHa?:D

Well, my favorite pasttime with Elements is making selections from different photos and placing them together on another photo or created background for a montage. As an example, you can view my "wonderful baby" montage in my gallery.

... and my favourite is Photorealistic Painting ... which is making images from scratch in Photoshop and trying to make them look like photographs.

Fun but time consuming :)

I've been thinking about this-and like Karen, want to do it all...But if I had to choose...I like working with the artistic filters, and trying most anything that will make a photo special for someone that I can give it to as a gift.

This is one of my (now 17) son at 5-flying his first kite-a present to myself!:)

Thank you, my friends-I was thrilled with it, now to find one of Brian to work on-if I ever get over this nasty illness-I hate being sick! Think I might have caught it from Jodi?:D

I think you might have a mild case of Photoshop Flu. To heal it, simply use Photoshop Elements and your Wacom for 7 to 10 days. You will be fine afterwards :)

My favorite used to be collages / posters. Since Matt's tutorial - it has definitely become creating gallery prints, both the soft focus ones like he did and the sharp photo realistic ones as well. My favorite is the Dahlia in my gallery. That one just shines!

I suppose that the other thing I really enjoy doing is restoration ... making an old photograph come back to life feels so good :)

I enjoy creating. Start from scratch, but not to emulate real life stuff, rather to make backgrounds, wallpaper, etc.

Carol - I love that. Is it a painting filter? I didn't even know the names of these things until last week. Is it easy to make a frame like that? You know I used the frame in elements e-mail when I did a photo recently and then when I re-sent the e-mail it came up double framed and I couldn't find a way to get rid of the second frame from the elements default - weird - but no big deal because it is all fun.
I know someone said something about downloading frames but I don't know how to do that - so I wondered if you made it? Thanks - and keep up the good work.

HaHa (that just looks so wierd)

A good way to get some idea of the creativity of some of the artists here is to look at Grant's Challenge. Each week a starter image is posted and you have free reign to do with it as you see fit. Please feel free to jump in and submit your own entries-it is a great way to learn a lot of Elements' tools and functions.

Also, if you have not done so already, click the Gallery tab at the top of the page or the gallery link at the bottom of any contributors reply.

Do you have any tutorial links on backrounds...I just shot a wedding for a couple who couldn't afford a photographer and I would really like to fix it up nice for them...I am not the best at photoshop yet...I am a work in progress..lol

What I meant by background is like waves of colours, shapes, etc. Nothing that would fit on a wedding image.

However, I think it was Wendy who posted a tutorial on digital backdrops. You might want to search for it. This could be a real helper for you!

Hi ....

If you take a look in
Wendy's Mini Tutorials (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3641) then the tutorial Ray mentioned is somewhere near the bottom of the list ...

Try choosing a colour maybe from the flowers ... then use two shades of that to make the background ...

Hope it helps :)

Shari-sorry to take so long to reply-lost the thread, plus I have a wicked Nyquil hangover!!:D

The outside frame is just added canvas with a stroke and I can't remember what I did in the middle! Maybe a selection and add a drop shadow? A bevel?? Aaghh! Let me go and see if I can figure it out...

Wendy! What did I do??:D

Hi Carol ...

Looks like you:

Selected the inside area
Inverted the selection
Copied it and pasted it to its own layer
Added an inner shadow
and maybe use a Hue & Saturation Layer to darken it a little
. and possibly a stroke around the edge (at a reduced opacity) ?

Works for me!:D

Since we're on the subject-I have to figure out a way to remember all this stuff, God knows using my memory doesn't work! Do you just remember, or do you document what you do in some way?

Thanks!:)

Wendy

Ummm ...

I don't often use things like filters so usually I just remember what I have done. Doesn't always work :)
