Hi everyone, I am very new to this and was wondering why I see the tools
menue on the left side, sometimes 2-line and other times 1-line. Is there a
way to toggle or shift back and fourth between the two styles?
Thanks in advance, Marvin....................

Hello and welcome to the Forums, Marvin!
If you drag your toolbox out of its position (click and drag it from the top where there little dots) you'll see it shifting from 1 to 2 columns.

Welcome to the forum Marvin. One day when I opened PSE, I had two tool bars down the side but found, for some reason, the 'page' did not cover the whole screen - when I enlarged the page to cover the whole screen, the tool bar automatically became one instead of two.

Well I must be missing something. Tried clicking and draging on the little dots
and that didn't work and I can not see how to enlarged the screen. Thank you all for the welcome but I need a little more information. By the way I'm
in photoshop elements 4 and just installed 3 that came with the Wacom tablet. Marvin & Ginger dog (my little dachshund)..................

Marvin, are you saying that you are getting 1 row for tools in Elements 4 and 2 rows in elements 3 ? Or are you getting 2 rows in both ? If so set your monitor to view at 1024 X 768 if possible.

Hi Jodi, I am getting 2-rows in both PSE-4 & 3 and was try to see if I could just 1-row. I'm new at this and was thinking how I could get 1-row of tools
like I have seen. Just learning and trying differant things. Thanks for the reply to this little problem I'm having. Marvin...............

If the tool menu bars is docked to the side you will get all tools in two rows if the main window is not maximized and one row if the main window is maximized. To be more specific it changes depending on the area of you window and think the brake point may be under 1024 by 768 ....

Hi Grant, thanks for your reply. The settings on my computor screen settings
is at 1024 x 768. Had to set it there to work in raw and be able to view the
full window. Before my settings were at 800 x the minimum and I was unable to view all of the controls. What I was trying to figure out was how
to get to 1-line on tools rather than 2-lines that I have now. I was just curious as to how that I would see tutorials with differant tools lines? I thought there may key strokes or some way to swith back and fourth.
Thanks for all the welcomes and needed help...........Marvin...........

Not sure since mine is in a single line down the left side of the page and I would like it to be two lines but maybe go to Window(at the top) and then go to uncheck maximize and see if that does it. I thought it was something like dragging it or double clicking at the top or something that toggles it from one long list of tool icons to two shorter lists of tool icons.
Let us know, I am sure it is in one of Scott Kelby books and I am surprised that Jodi or Wendy have not chimed in with the fix, they are GREAT at this.

Sandie, it was ponted out to just drag the tools up and down from their docking position(grab the top) to go from single to double row...and the fact that monitor res also plays a part in this. For me it makes no difference whether or not I'm in maximize mode...works here regardless. I think perhaps there is a little more to the original poster's problem since we covered all these areas already. We'll get there.

Hi Sandie & Jodi and thanks for all your help. Seems there may be more to it
than the click and drag. When I click, I see the box change to single line and
when I drag it the 2-line just moves to where I stop. In maximum size it looks
like it wonts to go, but when I release the button, it goes back to 2-line. I am a tecnical tinkerer and when I see something like this and can't find the answere, I get really frustrated. Sooner or later I will (or you all) will find out
how to do this seemingly simple task.........Thanks for all the help...........

You need to drag and drop it further away (like 3 inches from the border of your monitor)

Hi Shari,
Thank you for the hello from you and Bridgette. Yes, they do know and you are right about their temperment. This little dog rules this house and me most of the time. Ray, I tried draging it away and droping, but on releasing they remain 2-line. It may be in my settings some where, I dont know, but I will sooner or later figure it out. Thanks for all of help and welcomes and if I can't figuer it out it wont be the first time I've been stumped..........
Thanks, Marvin................oh and Ginger dog............

Praise God! I finally got it to 1-line. When I maximized there was still a small
strip at the top of my screen for HP stuff and it did not fully maximize to the fullest, but when I deleted that HP tool bar at the top to retreive the 2-line
tool bar, that was covering up the top, so that I could drag and drop it back in place. Then when I maximized the screen, it became 1-line.............
I hope that came out just like it happened.........Thanks for all the help that eventually got me on track.
