Auto red-eye fix question

I have been using the classroom in a book series as my introduction to PSE4. I have been following along exactly as the book says. When I attempted to complete an exercise that invloved the auto-red-eye fix, it did not work. I was using the sample photos provided on the cd that came with the book. Has anyone else experienced challenges with this functionality?

When you say "it did not work", what exactly happened..?

The sample photo in question had two individuals with very noticeabe red-eye. The first time i ran the auto fix nothing happened. I tried it again and only one of the individuals was fixed. I also tried a third time but no change.
