Mirabile Dictu!

I was just getting ready to part with $150 Cdn or so, when I thought I would try my printer one more time.

Just happened to see an unopened package of 4x6 Canon Glossy paper. Figured, let's use Canon paper in the Canon S750 printer.

Took about 4 sheets to get a full coverage print - it's been a while and I had to get the settings right, but finally there appeared a print with the streaks I had been seeing.

Tried the HP Everyday photo paper again and got terrible results. Backed down the paper spec from glossy to photo paper to plain paper and got different results in each case, sort of improving but never acceptable.

Switched to Staples / Business Depot Glossy and got results comparable to the Canon paper.

Just the paper all the time!

Glad to be back in business.

Now I have to sort out other settings and figure out the color management details.

Funny, isn't it? And I've read that Canons are the most effected by this.

My old HP 4-in-1 just seems to take whatever paper I throw at it; guess 'cause it's not a thoroughbred like a Canon or Epson...

One problem with an inkjet printer is the tendency for ink cartages that are not used often, to clog with dried ink. There may be a good chance that is what was causing the streaking. Many printer manufactures recommend you replace ink every 6 months for that reason. It may have stopped streaking not because of the paper type, but the clogs will usually clear up with use. Your printer should have a utility of cleaning nozzles. It may be worth a try looking for it before spending a lot of money on glossy paper.

In Summer, in regions where it's very humid, many manufacturers of printers recommend that owners print one sheet per week, to avoid clogged heads.

Humid or not, I've did that for years with my printers, and it's work fine. Until the Epson came in... 3 clogged heads problem so far.. grrr.. :(
