Robyn- Between the Targa in this challenge, and the bottle of whiskey in the last; are you taking visitors? Each seperate upon itself of course!

Steven,
I was SURE you would do a train shot for this one!:) The shot you submitted is great in its simplicity. You can really imagine yourself going around the bend of the curve.

Each seperate upon itself of course!
Steven....... of course!
We do actually have quite a famous targa held here in Tasmania in May. The duration is for about 4 - 5 days and it goes right around the island with various targa sections, where that part of the public road is closed for the event.
I LOVE your railway lines. Did you put the yellow flowers into it or were they already there? Just adds the right touch to it anyway, regardless.!

Steven what a magic train, it could be used as a modern train for Harry Potter
Jim, I was quite taken with the Skagway old snow plow, the colour are just as I remember them
Robyn, great cars with the solid red background, they really make an impact
Tim, the chequered border really makes the Corvette stand out
Steven, love the unused rails - did you get down on your belly to take it?
Anna, really great image and I like the slight fading of the photo it adds to the effect
Tony, good composition and vibrant colours
Kev, WHAT get rid of them!! London just won't be the same without the red double-decker buses!! Like the insert in the corner.

We had a big wind storm last night that knocked out the power so I'm a little late with my thanks to you Kay, Robyn and Karen. The two track shot was a color photo where I brought back color to the plant using a real round about method; it was done before I learned what an adjustment layer could do.
Karen- I would never have thought about doing something with a forklift but that's so cool! Pretty unusual and nicely done. Is there a significance to these type of equipment? I'm trying to piece together people's background through what I read here and there and I thought I saw somewhere that you were (or are) in farming?

Kev,
The doubledecker bus is a thing of the past?! How sad. And, for just a brief second I was aghast that the driver was reading the paper, and then I breathed a sigh of relief when I remembered the whole driving on the right thing. :)

I remember those red double-decker buses well. My guess is that a number of the old ones will find their way over to North America - there already are a lot here already - I even ran across one here that someone was living in  . I'm told you can buy one for $3000 - of course you then have to get it to where you want it and find a place to keep it :D

Kev,
Such a shame about the demise of the doubledecker red buses. When we were in London some time ago I took a photo in Oxford Street of a whole line up of them. Melbourne has it's trams and I think it's something that immediately gives an identity to that city........think of Sydney and it's the Opera House or the Bridge............think of Melbourne and I always think of trams.

Hello,
I don't live in London but the Red buses have been replaced with a longer, more modern? type.
They have great trouble with the narrow streets when trying to turn right or left.
Who said new is better.

We have a double decker in Saskatoon that's set up as an ice cream stand. It has a prominent location in the downtown area and the kids love to visit it for a cone.

Pat,
That's a superb image of the float plane. Did you do any post processing on it?

Why Thank You Robyn! I'm so tired of my drab winter pictures, especially when I'm enjoying all of the other colourful and WARM entries.
What I did was blur the whole thing and then using a mask, revealed all the parts of the plane - bad idea, took hours! Then I decided to reveal more of the sky hoping to find some colour - but none.
There were nice bright orange and red planes in this particular hangar but my darn battery ran out before I could get very far (duh) and I didn't venture back. This is quite the adventure this photo-taking, taking me to places I never go! Must learn to stock my camera bag...
p.s. when I open the thumbnail to my image, all the edges of the plane are jaggy until I enlarge it further. Boy I was mad after all that careful work - is that how it displays for you? All the rest of the entires are ok.

Pat,
On my monitor it looks absolutely great! Crystal clear, no jagged edges..........the very clear resolution of the image caught my eye in the first place - and the composition of the picture too. I think the time you spent on the picture has paid dividends.
It may well depend on how you have the resolution of your monitor set up (says me, who doesn't really know too much about these sorts of things!).

Steven, yes we were farmers but never needed to use a forklift. Donnybrook is the apple growing centre of sw Western Australia and I went down to one of the truck depots for that shot and the truck but the tomato picker I saw on the edge of the tomato crop on the way home and thought WOW, I'll have a shot (or 2 or 3 or 4 or . . ) of that.
Spotdog, now that is thinking out of the square - well done
Bill, love the colouring of your shot - that is another thing you have that I don't - planes in the sky above (we are too far away from any airport)
Daggerd, love the evil look in the horse's eye and WasMamma does not look really comfortable, does she?
Nancy great shot and what a brilliant paint job the cart has.
Pat, great detail in the plane and like the blurred background. I always carry a backup set of batteries in my pocket/bag when I take my camera out.

Enjoyed everyone's photos, especially those of you who live where it's warm!
Spotodog, your cats are terrific, they look like they are dancing down those tracks! Great idea. There is a 'motion blur' filter in PE that might give you the movement you're looking for. Try it on their wonderful jaunty tails
Steven, your tracks with the flowers is super - great shot. That touch of colour is perfect!
Well done everyone....

Hi all,
just echoing everyone else's comments to say that i am enjoying all the photos - they are all great shots... it's also great that people on this forum live in very different parts of the world, and the pictures really capture that ...

Karen,
If I remember correctly, they said it was a wedding carriage. That's the only reason for the added fringe and brite red paint. Typically their carriages and buggies are all black.

Browndog, I love the blurring effect on the traffic - it really makes it look as though it is moving - well done.

Robin, like the image of the train graveyard. I gives a different perspective to transport.
Gary, the buses (?) look as though they are waiting for the starter's gun . . . ready, set . . .

Thanks for the comments Karen, I liked you choice of transportation but that tomato picker wouldn't be too great for a speedy get-a-way. Lots of train lovers this week. I too am sorry to hear of the demise of the double decker bus. Maybe Starbucks could buy them up and convert them to mobile espresso kiosks.
