After a week of some really great architecture shots it's time to get going on our next assignment. This week's theme is transportation. The posting deadline is Sunday, February 5.

I have a million train shots, so here goes a still active Pixcentral post from a couple weeks back.

This retired, snow plow railroad engine was located in downtown, Skagway, Alaska.

And this is Skagway from the bow of the cruise ship. (a photo merge)

No trains in this shot, but there is something really cool to me about empty rails; I guess it's the conceptual allure of the connection over the entire country. You can pretty much start walking and go where the rails go, wondering what lies ahead.

Here is my submission. These are photos of an era gone by. Now buses are mostly used.

Thought I'd go visit the Chi-Cheemaun that is wintering locally for a mid-life refit. This is the largest passenger/vehicle ferry on the Great Lakes and runs between Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula and Manitoulin Island. We were in Tobermory last summer and the bottom left is from then - top right is yesterday in Sarnia. Chi-Cheemaun is Objibwe for "Big Canoe". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chi-Cheemaun

Once again I ended up with more than one to pick from and I will post the other two in another section.

This is my attempt.
It is to mourn the passing of the red bus, for so long as much a symbol of London as Big Ben, the Bloody Tower or any other city icon.
The powers that be decided to get rid of them.

Here's my entry. The rains stopped again today for a few minutes so I could get outside for awhile.

One of the oldest forms of transportation. This is an Amish buggy from a small settlement near me.

My entry is one of the many float planes that provide transportation for the more remote areas of the North during the summer months. Fishermen depend of these also to get into their wilderness get-a-ways. Grounded until spring, winter is the perfect time to perform maintenance on these.

Here's my picture. The orginal photo was taken earlier this week on a snowy morning. I happened to have my camera with me and tried to take a shot but it didn't come out very well. After playing around with the lighting, adjusting some colors, adding some filters and blurs, this is what came out.

This is late but it's still Sunday here.
This canoe hasn't transported anyone in 60 years or so but every summer there's a big paddle in on this beach.
