Thanks Wendy, I am not yet a subscriber. I still have to broach the subject with Michael. I am leading up to it by showing him all the wonderful things in everyone's gallery ;)

Gorgeous rainbow, Kev. Unfortunately I don't get to view the videos as I live out in the boonies where there is no high speed internet connection. Dialup just doesn't do it! Great job with the rainbow.

Mike,
Glad you like it.
The photo was taken at Lymington (panorama).
Boonies is the equivalent of our "out in the sticks". If I remember my American literature it's short for boondocks?

I appreciate the fact that you have viewed my past "Pixcentrals", especially now that I see you are on dial up. I just have assumed most everyone is on a high speed connection so viewing others works is a quick and easy process. I really appreciate your patience for the loading times!

I've enjoyed looking at peoples work with the Rainbows.
The video encourages you to introduce a reflection in the water, but can anyone help a beginner with this.
Is the approach to flip the rainbow 180 degrees and then take down the opacity?
Reg

Hi Reg-welcome to the forum, nice to see new folks jumping right in!
That's what I would do-just make sure the rainbow is on it's own layer so that you can select it, them flip the selection vertical. I sometimes will mess around with transform, depending on light source. Hope this helps:)

I've been thinking about participating belatedly, but of my 7000+ images 6500 are indoors and most of those out shots are with the sun in or near the background violating Grant's tips... Still searching.
In the mean time you've all done a wonderful job. Keep them coming.

Thanks,Nancy! That (word deleted) reflection was harder than the rainbow itself-it kept slipping out of place! Finally had to use Krazy glue.
I agree with Nancy re Vicki's rainbow-super cool!
And Sam's is lovely, too.I especially like the sun's rays coming through.

Hey Brice...just look in the tutorial archives..' make a picture look really old' ..part 1 and 2. I changed things over a bit while creating the action but it's pretty much the same effect.
Thanks everyone for your comments :) means alot !

I have been fiddling around with a rainbow (of sorts). I couldn't do the subscriber tutorial but here is what I came up with:
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/2006/rainbow8qp.th.jpg (http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rainbow8qp.jpg)
I used a 'pale colours' gradient and added some rain. Not very happy with it when I look at what has been done after you all did the tutorial. :D
raffy
February 3rd, 2006, 11:25 AM
Well.I think you did a great job on it all the same!Actually, yours looks a lot more natural,to me anyway.I especially like the rain-I've seen that happen in real life, and it makes it almost surreal.Makes mine look a bit artificial.Good stuff!

Diana,
Boonies..?
Mike
Sorry, a little late on the reply.
boon·iespl.n. Slang Rural country or a jungle.
[Shortening and alteration of boondocks.]
In my case, rural country.
Edited & added after reading all the posts: I see there are some who appreciate the meaning of boonies or boondocks. Were kinda far out in the country but I love country living. Actually, we're only about a 20 minute drive to the closest city, Jackson, MI (30,000 pop.) and about 45 minutes to E.Lansing (MSU) and Ann Arbor (U of Mich). But for some reason, affordable broadband connections haven't made it in this direction yet. We have an antenna on a tall tower to get TV reception.

Well, Steve, your images are well worth the wait. It's been even more challenging this past week getting anywhere online as we were having telephone problems--humming and crackling on the line--which affects our dialup connection. The phone company finally came out and fixed it yesterday, so I'm trying to catch up on the forum. I was missing everyone!:D

Alice, thanks for the kind words - I thought it wasn't a bad attempt for 'just fiddling' around!
Jodie, I still haven't subscribed - still working on it (I know it sounds like a cracked record :D ) but I have to had another 1/3 to the US price and it is just not possible right now.

Hi! I think more than a few of a forum members have you beat on the age:)
I'm assuming you mean uploaded to the thread? Do the save for web option and then you can use either www.pixentral.com (http://www.pixentral.com) or http://www.imageshack.us/
(imageshack gives you a thumbnail view within your post; otherwise they're the same.) Once you've uploaded to either, then copy the url into your post.
Looking forward to seeing your rainbow! enjoyed seeing your latest bird pic, by the way:
