hi, everyone - I just signed up and thought I'd say howdy-do.
My name is Mike, but most folks online know me as Graffi - short for graficalicus.com, my site. Many of you have possibly been there - I get a ton of hits from these forums (thanks!), so I thought I'd check them out.
About me - I'm married, have two sons, a dog & a mortgage in RTP, NC. I've been running the graficalicus workshop site for about 6 years or so (but it's not my "real" job) and keep finding new ways to completely crash it at least two or three times a year.
There's a bunch of new stuff in the workshop - including Action Packs for Elements (http://www.graficalicus.com/downloadbasket/categories.php?cat_id=8)(just download, unzip & install - they're automatic!), some new video tutorials (http://www.graficalicus.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=downloads&file=index) (and info on the brand-spankin' new Podcast, "GraffiTV" (http://feeds.feedburner.com/GraffisPhotoshopRealdrawProVideoTutsPodcast) you can subscribe to via iTunes (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=118406192&s=143441)or any other Podcast player), a fairly large user gallery (http://digiart.graficalicus.com/index.php) with sporadic Challenges, some stuff in the graffishops to keep things paid for, and a ton of tutorials and other stuff.
Whew - lotsa links. But that's my bio - and I hope I can contribute here!

Well, HI Graffi! Welcome to our little corner of the internet! I am going to run right out and check things out at graficalicus.com. I don't think I've been there before. I look forward to your contributions to some of the discussions here, and hope to see some of your photography in the gallery!

Am I mistaken or are the actions on your site for Windoze?

"How do they work?" - just download them, unzip the .exe file to your desktop, and double-click it to run it (Windows only so far)
It would appear so. But since Mike is a nice gentleman, I am sure he's already working on the Mac OS version, probably testing it as we speak... Isn't it so, Mike? :D

er, um, uh..... LOOK! OVER THERE! UNICORNS! [runs away....]
Sorry, but I have no Mac experience at all (programming-wise). :) The installer is built on a windows frame - but as soon as I hear of a way to get it into Mac form, I'll definitely do it!

If it's only a matter of delivering the files, then a simple ZIP file with a few instructions will suffice. Mac is fully compatible with ZIP files nowadays, so that won't be a problem.
Let me know, I could help with that :)

no, these are executables (.exe) files, compiled in Win - I tried to make it as easy to install actions in PSE as I possibly could, and the one-click method works best for most casual users. I wrote a tut awhile back (along with many othrs) about how to clear the cache, create a thumb, add the .atn files, get them all into the right place within the app, etc. etc., and got bombarded with emails & questions - so I automated the whole process!
With one click, these dump the cache, install the actions & thumbs in the appropriate folder within PSE (and prompt which version to install to if there's multiple versions present - when I first started these 6 months ago or so, I had no idea that many folks run v2, v3, or all 4 versions of PSE!)
As for me, I still use PSE 1 (and CS) on XP. Getting these to all be happy with later versions has been a challenge, with different features & filters available for each new version.
Thanks for the offer, though -

Hi there ...
Guess over here we have all got used to the delete cache method as a lot of us have used it to install Grant's tool set or the PET ones ... :) :)
... shame about yours being Windows only as about 20% of us here are Mac users :(

It needs to be reseached just a bit more because Apple ships every Macintosh with the full XCode suite (dev tools). There might be a way to use Apple's software pakcager to distribute the actions. It basically is like InstalShield.

Ack! I'm just a dude with a website!
I made 'em to help out some folks who couldn't get the delete cache part, and weren't comfortable with navigating around folders and files and stuff. Complete newcomers, in other words.
the Mac crossover sounds intriguing, though. Sounds like I'll be googling later....
The authoring app I use is Windows- is there a way to decompile an .exe and recompile for mac?

You can't recompile something for Mac when it was originally built for Windows. However, with the source actions and PSD (for the thumbnails), it might be possible to use Applescript and Apple's packager to distribute the files.
As for decompiling an EXE, I know it's possible, but you'll need tools and some of them are rather expensive.
