Just downloaded the 3.01 update. ????
Now, using Red Eye, the color change is all over the face, not only in the red portion
Something to do with the download ?

That would certainly be an unintended consequence; I didn't think any of the changes were aimed at the Editor side of the program.

Did you go through the Reset preferences routine and see it that would correct the bad behavior?

I have 3.01 installed... I just tried the red eye tool but didn't get the problem you described, so it doesn't look like the download.

I have downloaded the 3.01 update, but the program still calls itself 3.0.
Should this have changed after the up date ? Doing something wrong ?
Still getting the same red eye problem

Its only the organiser side of it that gets updated ... and it doesn't update until you open it.

If you then check the version nuber for the organiser you will find that it now says 3.01.

The red problem would not have been corrected by the update ... have you tried deleting the prefs file.

Delete Prefs

To do that close down Elements then click on the start up icon and quickly hold down the Control, Alt and Shift keys (Mac users Apple, Alt and Shift). Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes.

Lets hope that sorts it out :) ... do let us know

I did as you suggested alt-shift and control as the program opens.
Never saw the option screen you mention
What now ?

Don,

You do have to be quick holding down those keys and I think that you need to hold them down whilst launching the Editor. Try holding the keys down with one hand before you launch.

Fingers crossed that you manage it this time :)

Wendy,
I finally got there :)
However, the problem still exists. I have a series of pictures to "treat" and some take the red eye fix and one or two won't ???
One local maven suggested I had the pupil size too large. . Is that a possibility?

Hi Don,

Well I'm glad that you managed to catch the delete prefs ... but sorry that it didn't work on the red eye tool.

Are all your images roughly the same size? ... and it probably would be good it you could talk me through exactly how you are doing the red eye correction.

Wendy,

The group of pictures I was working were all taken the same evening.
As I undestand it, I select the red eye removal tool, place the cross over the red portion and just click. That seems to work most of the time.

It has occured to me that I may be trying to remove red eye when it really isn't that red ? On the ones where it doesn't work, I get a large blotch of dark grey over the side of the face where I am working.
Would that be the result if the there was no red eye?

Does adjusting pupil size make a difference. ?

In the meantime, thanks for your attention to this annoying problem

hello, instead of clicking with the red eye tool try this;

zoom in kind of close and select the red eye tool and drag a box just around the pupil.

Jodi,

So glad you picked up on this one as I had just about run out of ideas ... I'm not a great fan of the red eye tool so tend to use other methods.

I have, however, heard that the PSE3 red eye tool is a great improvement over the PSE2 one ... :)
