View Full Version : Mac, iPhoto 4 & 5, and RAW

In iPhoto 4, I can keep RAW images in the Library, and, by double clicking them, they will open in PSE3. In iPhoto 5, this does not work, since the image gets converted to JPEG (Why, I can't imagine!!) I'm told to move the image to the desk top, then open PSE3, then open the desk top image - but PSE3 would not open it!
Anybody got a solution for this?

Nobody proposed a solution, because, after many e-mails and telephone calls, I found that, not only does iPhoto 5, but also iPhoto 6 does this weird translation into JPEG. I guess I'll stick with iPhoto 4 until Apple comes to their senses!! This is the first major problem I've had with Mac in 20 years!!

I'm sorry, I didn't see this thread, otherwise, I'd have answer.
I don't use iPhoto to store my RAW files. I do the conversion in another software (i.e. Capture One SE), then import thumbnails of the converted images in iPhoto, in order to not overload my hard drive. Also, I tag the RAW files with a RAW keyword, making them easy to spot and retrieve from the DVD backup when I need them.
