This reminds me of the time I was to give a huge demonstration in front of an audience of over 300 and the first row had a dozen of my friends sitting there with nose glasses on. True story, good friends, lots of laughs.

Jodi... Oh man, you beat me to it. I was working on the BW conversion. You are much quicker than I am.
Grant...you have to know you have great friends when they pull something like that.
Caroline is a special little angel/devil. I thought when I had a girl she would be alot less trouble than by son...BOY, was I wrong.

Shane, if she isn't getting into trouble at that age then I'd be worried !
My son will be 5 in March and my Daughter is 7. I can assure you that the trouble doesn't stop..it just changes course a bit as they get older ;) Enjoy your little devil...I was thinking the other day...the kid years are the shortest years of their lives and everything they learn now...the 'basics' of everything it means to be human on this planet will carry them through adulthood...scary eh ? Talk about a tough job to be a good parent ! But we only have them for a short time and then they grow up and move on...so, it's just really scary.

Jodi... you are so right. She makes me laugh all the time. She does one thing that makes me really laugh. If she gets aggrivated she crosses her arms, lowers her head with a devilish look in her eyes and growls like a dog. Must have picked that up as well from the dads side of family. Never seen that trait from my side (ha...ha)

You guys are just way to cool. Do any of you by chance live in my area. Colorado, specifically Denver. If not, wished you did. I have no one to share my passion with and I think my neighbors think I am weird because all I want to do is take pictures and edit them. I guess you can say I have become a huge Photography/Photoshop junkie....

Shane, my son is in Pre-school and he has a girlfriend. Funny thing is that I knew he like this girl but I never really knew just how much or the details of it all. At Christmas time he was embarrassed to talk about her....I didn't think too much about it since he's only 4. Well, on Monday when i picked him up from school he had a big smile on his face...it only took him a few seconds to say " Mommy, Zariah became my girlfriend today " ...I said ' Oh ya ? '..he said ' yes '...so like the mom that I am I asked ' Does she know she is your girlfriend ? ' He says "Yes Mommy I asked her today to be my girlfriend and she said 'yes' " ...I'm thinking..oh, this is such a cute 'puppy love' story ( this never happened to my daughter at this age)...Anyways, so ya I'm just thinking it's cute but then yesterday he tells me that he kissed her ...on the cheek. Oh dear, my son is 4 and will be 5 in March...I'm not ready for this puppy love !!!! Ogh....I didn't tell you the best part...on Wednesday he tells me that he made ' Gabbie' cry...he said he didn't mean to...he told Gabby that Zariah was his girlfriend and she cried. This is crazy isn't it ?? They are in pre-school ! God help me ! I know I know...it's just little kid puppy love stuff but I wasn't prepared for it. None the bit !

Oh Jodi - you're just getting started! My daughter announced in preschool she was going to marry Cody and have 2 babies after they grew up, got a car, went on a date and graduated from big school(high school). I calmly replied 'as long as it's in that order honey, that's fine' while screaming internally 'thank goodness she has it right" She is now in high school and still has a crush on Cody.

Hi
Love the photos, laughed at most of the comments.
Beginning to think that we have some slightly mad people using this forum.
I think that's what makes it great.
People turn out wonderful work but still have time to have a laugh.

Jodi-
I'm here to tell you...I am almost through the teenage/high school years and they've been pretty good with my sons-love them to death, set high expectations and very clear limits and you'll probably get through-(although I am so glad I have boys!!) My first born turns 20 ( ) this week! I was having a discussion with my baby (17) the other day about a consequence from slacking off with his schoolwork last year and he gave me the old "no one could believe that I got grounded for a whole term-no one else's parents would do that" My response in a nutshell? "Not my job to be your friend-it's my job to be your parent, and what other people do is irrelevant. Oh, by the way, I love you."

January 14th, 2006, 09:45 AM
Guys... I think about my kids growing up often. So much influence out there, positive and negative but we try our hardest to be the best parents that we can and teach them good values to take with them. I had a mother pick my son up yesterday from school so he could play with her son. She called me and said " I love to have your son over, he has the nicest manners". It just warmed my heart to know that we seem to be doing something right.
Now where are all those manners when he is at home? At least he puts his best foot forward around others and I know he knows how to behave.
Can't believe this thread over 'glasses' has sparked such discussion from everyone. That is why I love hanging out here. Take care and have a great weekend

Carol I wish more parents were like you!! It would make my job much easier (my son turned 13 on wed. --no problems yet, daughter will be 15 in Feb. --- we won't talk about the hour long discussion we had this morning or the extra grey hairs I have because of her and the eldest will be 17 in March. I was saved a lot of grief by her boyfriend who is 3 years older and doesn't drink, doesn't smoke and doesn't do drugs!!! He is one of a million. )
Jodi, all I can say to you is love those little kiddies now, because by the time they hit grade 8/9 you won't know who they are!! At this point in my life I am glad we stopped at 3 kids or I might not have made it!! Two years apart seemed like good planning but now I don't feel like I have enough time to recover before the next one goes through 'the evil stage'.
Enough said, this could end up being a depressing topic!!

My "children" are now in their mid to late 30s and the best thing they ever said to me was they had the best childhood ever. They (a daughter and a son) rarely gave us any grief. The time I remember the most was when daughter came home from University and they went to Bunbury (an hour's drive one way) for the evening; their curfew was midnight but being so far out of town they did have some leeway. They got home at 02.30 and I just happened to be awake! Well, I grounded both them - even though our daughter was not living at home!! We laugh about it now.
When son was in his early teens he accused me of not treating him like his sister - from who knows where came my reply of "why should I? You are not your sister, you are you and should be treated as you and not your sister".
Another time he was ranting and raving and finally said he hated me. Once again, from who knows where came my reply of "well sometimes I don't like you either but I always love you"

Yes I am definitely past child rearing. Michael's back is degenerated so I am having to do more and more because he can't! I would not possibly be able to spend the time and energy rearing children - either yours or my own grandchildren on a full time basis.

How the #$^%$& can she miss place the thing!! What next...........well she just came back to tell me the power head isn't working on the vacuum.
Anyone have a money tree in their back yard?
