Please take a deep breathe and relax. You are not stupid and neither are you an idiot.

The Premiere Elements 8 section you are looking for is simply called Premiere Elements (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15). I do not use Premiere Elements but there are many qualified folks here that can and will help you. :)

First, sit down, I am about to give you a lecture.

We need to talk to Wendy about getting the title of your thread changed. The title is not in one of our categories and should not be in yours. I want to see something like "Need Help with Scene Splitting" or something like that. End of lecture.

Now let us get down to business. Premiere Elements 8 is a challenge whether you are a beginner or more experienced in the software. What manual did you buy as a learning guide? Often the free Help PDF of the program itself and other free advice from users will service your learning curve needs. Here is a link to some free video tutorials for Premiere Elements 8 that may be of interest to you:
Just check out the free stuff in those links for now.

To keep out of crashes

(a) in the Premiere Elements 8 workspace, turn OFF Background Rendering under Edit Menu/Preferences/General
(b) in the Elements Organizer workspace, turn OFF AutoAnalyzer...you get there by clicking on the Organizer Tab which is in the row below the blue Organize Tab. In the Elements Organizer, you go to its Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalyzer Options and turn OFF AutoAnalyzer. You get back into the Premiere Elements workspace via File Menu/Exit in the Elements Organizer workspace.

(b) about cutting video into clips....not so long ago, Shawnrl had basic questions in this area. Please read that thread (See post #3 in that thread), and try to work through the procedure that I suggested for her specific situation
I will work with you from start to finish on Premiere Elements questions. I have no doubts that you can do it. Please keep that thought and ask the smallest or largest questions about your workflow. Someone once said that the mark of an educated person is not how much he/she knows, but rather how much he/she knows that he/she does not know.

Thanks for coming to the assistance of IBE. Photoscrazy1579, those tutorials did look interesting but were for Photoshop Elements, not Premiere Elements. If IBE has Photoshop Elements 8 as well as Premiere Elements 8, they will come in handy.
Thanks as always for transferring IBE's question to the Premiere Elements Forum here. IBE and I need to get together with you about changing the Thread Title.
