Linda,
I wanted to share this with you since you are getting ready to go see your new grandbaby. I took the newborn photos and created a slideshow for my cousin and his wife. If you get to take lots of pictures on your visit you could put something together like this for the proud parents.

http://www.photodex.com/sharing/

It is a little long (about 4 minutes)

You will see a pictures of the slideshow at the bottom of the page. Click on 'view' and then click on 'loop all' to start. I need to change that.

I can't find it -- perhaps I'm looking for a wrong spot on the page -- but mostly it shows log-in information.

Oh, Shane, I REALLY want to view it, and I thank you for being so thoughtful, however I'm unable to view it. I'm on a Mac, using Safari. When my hubby has a few minutes, I'll have him take a look. I'll bet he can open it. He's a compu-genius! :D By the way -- I'm all packed, and we're OFF in the a.m.

Linda...I hope your husband can pull it up for you. I am not familiar with a Mac at all. Thought the slideshow would give you an idea. Have a great trip and give that little one lots of hugs and kisses which I am sure you will.

Thank you Mary... I only wish that I had the camera and software and ideas that I have now when my two kids were born. I would have loved to put something like this together for remembrance of that special moment when they were born. Also I could view it from time to time when they are holy terrors reminding myself that once they were little angels.

Glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate you taking the time to look.

Hi Shane - I know what you mean - pictures were few and far between when mine were small. I do have a gallery wall in a hallway here and when the grandchildren come they love to see pictures of their parent, aunts and uncles etc when they were little. It always surprises me how much time they spend going over each and every picture.

ProShow Gold is PC only and they tell me they don't support Mac at all. They said they were exploring future support though. I have one slide show up there now - my user name there is mcarpent if you would like to take a look. It is the creation of our backyard after we moved into this house. Nothing like gorgeous babies though. :)

Shane,
I just found this site. I have subscribed to the newsletter but have not received my first copy yet. I just found and saw your slideshows and "Oh my"
they are so lovely - especially the baby one. I had to call my husband in to see. You do wonderful work. I'm hoping someday maybe I can attempt something like that. I thought first I would attempt something on Elements 3 just to see how I like working with slide shows. Thanks for sharing. Be proud of your work.

Shari... thank you so much for the great compliment. If you are interested, the slideshows were done with ProShow Gold software. Cost is around 79.00. Very, very simple to do and add a song. I am really getting into doing these. Each year I take the pictures of my children and family and put them on a slideshow for a Christmas present to all my family. They anxiously await getting it for a gift. Take care and thanks for taking a look.

You guys are so awesome on this site!!!!

Thanks to this thread - I bought Pro Show gold and have been having some fun with it. If anyone would like to see our Panama Cruise photos go to www.photodex.com/sharing - name shar
You might not be interested in my personal photos but you can see what can be easily done with the photos you have edited in elements!

Shari...took a look at the slideshow. You guys look like you had a wonderful time. Who was celebrating their 25th? Was that you and your husband? Congratulations.

ProShow Gold is great software for creating the slideshows. I am working on putting pics of my son and daughter together with some personal thoughts so when they get older they can watch them. Thought I would create a library of CDs so they could see their growth throughout the years.

Shane,
I just looked back at the site again and looked at the featured photographer - Sherron Shephard. WOW! Those images are awesome and it appears most are photos converted to paintings (I could be wrong but sure looks that way). This is great software. I wonder what version he used? Which one do you have / recommend?

Nancy, I just looked at the slideshow and you are right...unbelievable. Did you catch the picture where it looked like the sky was moving. If not go back and watch it.

I have the ProShow Gold version and just received an update by email for 2.6. I guess if you have bought the software and they do an upgrade within a year from the time you bought it you get the upgrade for free.

Wow - that's customer service. Yes I did catch the moving sky - it was so cool. I'm blown away by her slideshow. The seal one was good too and almost clicked it off until I saw part 2 was actually included. Very cute expressions. I can see tons of uses for this!

Here is the link to her show if anyone is interested.

then click on Sherron Shephard's show. Her bio says she uses Photoshop for the images.

Hi Nancy - I'm pretty sure Sharron's show was done with the Producer version - which is quite a bit more expensive. I got Pro Show Gold 2.6. You can download a free trial version to see how you like it. It is lots of fun.

Hi Shane,
Yes, it was our 25th and it was a great trip. I have 3 more slide shows to post on our ports up to docking in New York. I was doing this so I could have our family look at the slide shows - but I am finding that (older) friends are reluctant to download the Photodex Presenter. They think they are going to get a virus or break their computer!!! So I tried to e-mail to my sister but I cannot get that part to work. I have sent queries to Photodex with no reply as yet. Also, when I get this all finished my idea is to download the whole 36 minutes to a DVD. Have you done that yet? When you say making CD's for your kids - have you done that yet?? I might try a DVD tomorrow but if it doesn't work it gets me in a bad mood and I wouldn't want to be in a bad mood watching Seattle win the Super Bowl!!!!

You know I meant to say DVD instead of CD. Yes I have done this and it worked like a charm. For Christmas I made a DVD for the family of the kids. I also make a photo album which includes the pictures I have take for the year. They love it so I will be doing it every year going forward.

I tried to email the slideshow as well but could not get it to work. I am sure we are doing something wrong. If you find out just let me know. I would just call them and ask how to do it. I have done that before and they are very helpful.

I have also written to our service provider so I will let you know if I find anything. Do you use any special kind of DVD? I have an HP. I have never burned a DVD before believe it or not. This is all pretty knew to me. I think I will post the next installment of our cruise this afternoon. Under the name of shar.

Shari,
I e-mailed her and she confirmed it's the Producer version. Wow - expensive. Don't think I'll be getting that one.

Shari - I forgot to tell you - yours is wonderful.

Was there a link for Shane's? I didn't see it.

Hi again Shane,
I just got a message back from my service provider saying everything seems to be configured right and for me to contact Photodex. You know I sometimes wonder if with the e-mail feature not working and having to go through their site - it is advertising for them - and maybe they do not want it to work. Is that rotten thinking? I really would like to e-mail some of the shorter shows I plan to make - like tomorrow's Super Bowl party!

I don't have the program, so I don't know about the email thing.

I am wondering if the file size is too big. Some email servers won't allow emails over a certain size. I noticed both of the shows I watched were over 10 mb each. I also have a intermitant problem of mine timing out sometimes when my virus scanner scans my outgoing email, and mine are never 10 mb.

Just another fish to throw in the pan. :D
