Adobe is in the process of launching a new app, Lightroom. It's much like Apple's Aperture. It's an application for managing photo projects.
You can download a beta :

For the time being, it's Macintosh only.

Certainly looks good. I wonder what the price tag is going to be!?

It's featured on the NAAP website, so it's not gonna be cheap, I don't think so :)
I'd say close to Apple's own Aperture, but not as expensive.
One thing going for this application is that it runs on machine which are fare below Apple's required system for Aperture. That should give Adobe an edge.

Yes, Apple's minimum spec is somewhat akin to those quoted on PC games - yes, it'll run but barely.
Interesting to see the state of the Adobe/Macromedia merger. The application formerly know as.....

For a testing app this really looks good, I like the portability factor, and neat how Adobe decided to make it a public Beta, its been quite a successful release model for others in the past. Can't wait to see it on PC.

Adobe has semi-officially said that they expect to price it between Elements and Photoshop CS2. Quite a price range....
The only safe bet in my opinion? It will be priced less than Aperture!

It's Mac only for the moment, but a PC version is coming (I read it some place). Mac users are usually early adopters of new technology, it makes sense to start with this side of the fence, see what the comments are, and then publish for both Windows and Mac.
If I remember correctly, I believe Adobe InDesign (Adobe's publishing and layout application) was adopted faster on the Mac platform than on Windows.
And if it's priced between... Elements and Photoshop CS 2 **upgrade** price, I think it's a sure winner :)
(well, you can't blame me for hoping!)

I'm at work now, but when I get home I'll go take a look and, probably, download the beta version. Sounds pretty nice!

I downloaded it too and will probably try it too. I would love to use it instead of Iphoto. just for the simple fact you don't have to keep your photos in the programs database. It looks really good for being a Beta and Scott, Matt and Dave all seem really excited by it from what I could tell by watching Photoshop TV.

I don't want to get too involved with it until I know the price. After the the demo expires June 2006 and price is .... somewhere between PSE and CS2
So I don't want to spend ages inputting all my things only to find out that the price is nearer CS2 than PSE :(
