I have always felt that the passenger train that goes by my town looks somewhat serpentine, so awhile back I put a snake skin on a picture and gave it a wiggle. It then sat in the "Do Later" file until I figured out what was needed next. Since I have been on this site I learned about Adobe Exchange and all the cool brushes and textures available, so being interested in the weird I went to town. It is probably overdone but it was a good learning exercise. I played with color, blends, opacity, blurs and the like. Next stop, the Twilight Zone.

Hi ...

Oh that is well done ... it must have taken quite some time to achieve all of those different effects ... but it was worth it !! it is really good.

How did you do the red (almost looks like lava) at the sidee of the train ?

Well, thanks for the words of support! Now, have you all dumped your internet cache to remove any trace of this photo?
Wendy, the lava was just a pattern called "embers" that was available for download in the Adobe Exchange. I just used the pattern stamp and it came out as is. I'm going back later to my picture and add some hot and cool spots to the lava, maybe throw in some orange and of course some steam coming off of it. I'm up to 17 layers right now.
And Kev, I am no way comparing myself to Ansel Adams, but wasn't he known to take a bottle of scotch in with him to the darkroom? If not for inspiration then it at least helped with the tedium. Actually, I'm a homebrewer and my beverage of choice is a great creation of the UK, the India Pale Ale. Thanks to your fellow countrymen!

I have looked for the pattern "embers" and can't find it on the adobe site. Any suggestions? I tried doing a search for rmbers and could not find it. Do you know who did it?

The "ember" pattern is by Lou Nappi. Here's the link.
