Hi Edmund,
Close Photoshop Elements
Then relocate or copy the .ASL files to this folder
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Presets\Styles
Then restart Elements.
This site has good info on where to put downloaded add-ons:

Hope this helps.

Hi Diana & Mike,
Well now I really feel a little slow. I tried to locate the folder you mentioned c:\program files\adobe\photoshop elements\presets\styles and hit search. Then got a msg. indicating that that folder does not exsist on my PC. I need a little more help. Sorry for the bother.
Thanx in advance.Eddie

On my computer the folder for Elements 4 is named
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 4.0\Presets\Styles
I don't have Elements 3 loaded at the moment, but in Elements 2 the file name begins with
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2\Presets
and there is no folder named Styles.
Go back to C:\Program Files\Adobe\ and see what folder you have that looks like Photoshop Elements. It may have a slightly different name,

Edmund,
Try clicking through to the folder using My computer. Also, you can name that frames folder anything you want. The name you give it (ex. Jodis files) will appear as a choice in the frames list if it has been installed correctly.

Hi Edmund,
When you downloaded Jodi’s Frame Styles where did you save the zip file (frame_styles1.zip), and more importantly, if you unzipped them--what folder did you unzip the files to. You need to find that unzipped file if you unzipped it--PET_Frame_Styles.asl.
If you haven’t unzipped it, do a search for frame_styles1.zip.
When you find that file, right click on it and then click Extract all.
When the Extraction Wizard starts, click Next.
This screen is where you tell it where to extract the files to.
Click on Browse, then click on Desktop in the destination list.
Click Make New Folder and give the new folder a name if you wish by typing over the words New Folder, such as PET Frames.
Click OK, which will take you back to the Extraction Wizard screen.
Then click Next and it will tell you the files have been extracted to the folder you chose.
Click Finish and that folder will open.
The folder will show one file in it named PET_Frame_Styles.asl
Leave that folder window open but you can minimize it if it’s in your way.
Now open the Elements folder where you need to put it:
From your Desktop, click on “My Computer”
Click on Local Disk ( C: )
Click on Program Files
Click on Adobe
Click on Photoshop Elements (whatever version yours is)
Click on Presets
Click on Styles
Then make sure both windows are open—the folder window containing PET_Frame_Styles.asl and the one you just opened “Styles.”
Drag PET_Frame_Styles.asl over to the Styles folder.
You will need to restart Elements for the new styles to show up in your Styles and Effects Palette. Just look under Layer Styles and you should see “PET Frame Styles”
Hope this works for you.

Diana, Thank you so much. It worked. Now why didn't I think of that simple procedure. I have a lot to learn. One more question will Jodi's frame styles work in both PSE_3 & PSE-4?

Edmund, yes Jodi's frames will work in PSE4 - I have them loaded and have been using them.

Hi Diana,
I am having a similar problem getting Jodi's frame styles installed. I followed your instructions carefully but with no luck. The file shows up in the styles folder in presets as it should but does not show up in the styles and effects palette. Instead after trying several times, I now have somehow managed to multiply the number of original frame styles in the styles and effects palette by 4. I have PE-4 and am running Windows XP. If you have any ideas I would appreciate the help. BTW how can I remove the 3 extra sets of frames?
Regards,
Roy

Hi Roy ..
Did you close down Elements and then restart it ..
It may be easier if you take a screen capture of the presets folder and post a link to the image here ... we may be able to work out what the problem is from that :)

I was confused, too, when I tired to locate Jodi's Frames. I also loaded them in XP. They are not located with the other frames under "Effects" "Frames." Instead they are under "Layer Styles" "PET_Frame_Styles." I have not tried them yet but I will give you a report when I do.

Hi Roy,
Sorry you're having that problem. It's so frustrating dealing with computers sometimes!:(
Look in your Styles folder--
From your Desktop, click on “My Computer”
Click on Local Disk ( C: )
Click on Program Files
Click on Adobe
Click on Photoshop Elements (whatever version yours is)
Click on Presets
Click on Styles
Check to see if you have 4 instances of any .asl files in the Styles folder. Usually Windows won't let you have more than one instance of the same file name. I don't have Elements 4, I have 3, so I'm not sure everything is exactly the same.
Try rebooting your computer and then restarting Elements and see if you still have the same problem.

Hi All,
Frustration is the operative word here. I have rebooted, reentered, and reviewed, all suggestions. I loaded the asl file as suggested by Diana.(Very straight forward and clear) Jodi's asl file appears in the Styles folder as it should and it is unzipped. However when I open Elements editor and go to the palette it doesn't show up. I am also totally confused as to why/how I now have multiple icons of the original Elements frames.
I do appreciate the responses to my problem and wish to thank all.

Roy, stranger things have happened...try resetting your preferences;
hold down alt+shift+ctrl a split moment after launching Editor. A message will appear asking if you would like to reset your settings...click OK and the program will launch as expected.
If that doesn't work...delete the cache files;
Go to C:Program files>Adobe>Elements 3.0 or 4.0>Previews>Cache;you will see two folders>'Effects cache and filters cache. Inside these two folders are 3 files. You must delete these files inside these folders...6 altogether. Don't delete the folders....just the files inside of them...then relaunch Elements.
It will take a few moments for the effects and filters cache to rebuild...be patient.

You did not indicate whether you had looked under "Layer Styles" in the styles pallet. That is where I found them after I downloaded them. The *.asl file is where it belongs but the frames themselves are not in the same place as the PSE4 frames. Since my last post I have tried them and they work fine.
