OK - so I try to print out a picture and the print dialog box says the image selected will print out at less than 220 dpi? When I ignore that warning and print anyway, the picture (at any size) is VERY grainy (pixelated) and way off color.
How do I fix these things? I would love to read your suggestions before possible messing up my computer trying to fix the problem on my own.
Thanks in advance for your help.

In editor, go to Image->Resize from the file menu. See what the dimensions of your image are in Pixels, and, what the "pixels per inch" or "ppi" box says. if it says 220 or greater, then you have stumbled onto the bug in Elements that incorrectly pops up this dialog.
If it isn't 220 or greater, then you can play with the width and height values (make sure Resample is NOT checked) until you get something greater than 220.

I followed the directions you gave. In the resolution box I put 300 dpi (it was reading 42) and the print dialog still gave me that warning.
So confused....so frustrating......

Okay, when you changed the ppi to 300, and then it gave you the warning - that was the bug... What size (width and height) did your picture change to when you changed the ppi to 300?

It is a known bug in PSE and you can ignore the warning. It had something to do with cm's and inches I think? Does anybody remember?:)

It is a bug (in PSE3 and 4) but only I believe if you change the preferences to cms from ins. From the sounds of this problem (grainy pixelated image) it did sound like the picture really was less than 220 dpi at the print size selected.
