Our local paper had a quick look at some of the new gadgets coming out of the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show now going on in Las Vegas. I thought a couple would be of interest here.
Iomega StorCenter: A networked storage device that can be adapted to Wi-Fi. Can be networked across computers for cental storage. Small enough (looks like about the size of a good book) to move easily,if needed. 250 Gigs-$290; 160 Gigs-$200.
Maxtor One Touch III: Okay, for those people who really like to large RAW and JPG files or video. Can be partioned to automatically back itself up.
A TERABYTE of storage-$900 [1 terabyte = 1,000 Gigs or 1 trillion bytes].(Article says prices expected to drop when it hits the street--memory is cheap now).
Not at CES but also mentioned:
Acecad Digimemo Digital Notepad: A standard looking clipboard that holds a regular sheet of paper. However, as you draw or doodle, the image can be captured in 8 megs of memory. Image can be uploaded as JPG, BMP, PNG or PDF via USB port. Could be useful for those artists and sketchers here or low end way to trace outlines of flat objects. Available now at amazon for $94.99
