View Full Version : Newborn pics...Only a week old

My cousin and his wife had a little girl about a week before Christmas. Poor thing. Birthday and Christmas so close together. Since I was in GA over the holidays she wanted me to take some pictures for her. The lighting was horrible so all of these are taken at ISO 800-1600. A beautiful baby and very proud parents. The last one is my favorite. I really liked the look of dads tattoo with his arm cradling the baby and also with moms hand on her head.

Shane, those are gorgeous. What a beautiful way to frame them rather than the same old full baby shot! I love them. Also I never realized it before but the black and white is so much nicer for baby shots!! New borns are always so red and wrinkly looking (sorry if I offend anyone there, but really not too many pretty newborns!), but the black and white takes all that away and leaves you with a peaceful gorgeous portrait. I love it. I also love the little hands shot. I too think baby's hands look so precious.
By the time my kids have their own kids I'll have a whole new way of taking baby pictures. Thanks so much for sharing.

Pauline...you are correct. Babies are red and wrinkled. The color shots are exactly that way. This baby was really red. Black and white is much better for baby shots. Thanks so much for taking a look. Have a good one.

Shane,
What beautiful images of the baby. The third one is an especially nice "family" image. Good work.

Diana...Appreciate you taking a look and commenting. The last one is a favorite of mine. Not too fond of tattoos but thought it was kind of cool.

Very, very, very nice Shane.
The black and white is spectacular .... I am kinda partial to black and white and agree it is much nicer for those baby shots. The composition is wonderful.

Shane, the pictures are so lovely! In less than one week I'll finally get to hold my new grandbaby -- born 12/8. You've given me some good ideas for photos . . . if I can stand to put her down long enough to pick up the camera! I, too, like the black and white!
