I have been using CS4 with XP for nearly a year with no computer problems until I got a new computer with Windows 7 about two weeks ago.
I have been experiencing some rather strange things when cloning and using the spot healing brushs, also when using the free transform in resizing and or moving an image while making a collage.
The problem while cloning etc. is after a few clone operations there will be a new source across the image and then it appears that a streak (for a lack of a better term) will shoot across the image.

When using free transform to move or resize, the image will shoot way out of range sometimes right off the screen.

I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing similar problems

I also have PSE 7 and do not have these problems with that program so this sort of isolates the problems between Windows 7 and CS4

thanks in advance for any help you may give

Marc, maybe you have stumbled upon a conflict with the video controller. CS4 takes advantage of some very sophisticated features. Do you have the OpenGL selection turned on? If not, turn it on,and likewise if on, turn it off, and test your problem.

Go to Edit>Preferences and under Performance, see the OpenGL setting in the bottom right corner.

Additionally, have you checked with the Adobe Knowledge Base about this problem. I seem to recall reading about errant "streaks" affecting users video. Check it out, and see if they have a Windows 7 forum.

I have CS4 (both 32 and 64 bit versions) running under Vista 64 without difficulty. I dread the thought of moving to yet another OS, for just this very reason.

Also, have you considered updating your video drivers to the latest version?

Wild horses won't drag me away from my beloved XP until I definitely, positively, absolutely have to, there ain't no other way to keep my PC running - have to move to another OS :)
