Hi Norm

I just adore the simplicity of the abandoned bicycle in your gallery. Less is always more in my opinion and I think your image is a perfect example of that. Is there a tut that you can point me towards on how to do that curled up photo effect.

(Same goes for CarolLHB's winter image - I think it is so simple, but just stunning!)

Thank you,

Thanks Robyn,

I appreciate the kind feedback.

You know, I don't have a tutorial but I can give you a quick overview of how I got there.

Black backround layer with gaussian blur under original image.
With black layer selected go filter>distort>shear
Pull center just a tiny bit to the left
Select original image and do the same thing with the shear tool, only this time to the right.
Adjust position of upper layer so that it looks like a shadow underneath.

That's pretty much it.

Hi Robyn-thanks!

There's a tut on the page curl in the subscribers section, about half way down on the right side under "featured videos"

Try the shear tool-it's a little crazy until you get used to it-but it's very cool for curling or bending images.

Robyn,

I forgot to mention that you actually need three layer. The botton one in my image is pure white. It's 2" larger than the black layer and the photo layer. When you've completed your work on layers two and three, merge them together and use free transform to get the tilted look. Hope this all makes sense.
