Hello everyone, Yesterday a went to my very first camera club meeting and was amazed at the photos I saw.....The theme for the night was Black and White prints, they were unreal. My question to all of you is what is the best way to convert a color picture to a black and white.

I really like the Hue & Saturation adjustment layer method. It's probably my favourite.

Hi Pardo-I like to try channels first-seems to result in crisper images for me. I use Hue/Sat if I'm planning to backscreen generally.:)

You'll find lots of different answers to this one!

Wow this is great. Yesterday I asked about using layers to blend a couple of pictures and it turned out fine. One picture was very old and the background was one that I had changed to black and white. The problem was that the old picture was more of a brown and faded colour. Well I used the Remove Colour mode as suggested in Grants tutorial and it worked great. Thank you very much !! :) :)

While I was away this week I came across a tutorial on black and white conversion that provides a workaround to the Channel Mixer... I'll dig it out and post tomorrow...
