I would like to combine images from my grand childer but I am having problem with their hairs.

Let me explain

I have several pictures of my (6) grandchildren and I would like to combine the different images into one of all of them.

This is how I been trying to do it.

First I Crop the picture to where only the image is left, next I use either the Magic Wand or the Lasso tool and select as much of the image as I can, then I delete what I don't want.

My problem is with their har, which is sometimes real hard to differentiate from the background in the original photograph.

Any recomendations ? http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif

Thanks

"hard to differentiate from the background in the original photograph.

cubano, apply a shadow/highlight, hue/saturation or a curves adjustment to create some separation between the child's hair and background.
These adjustments will probably also improve the overall quality of the photos.
Try each one to see which gives you the best overall results.
Just don't go overboard.

If you do a lot of this type of extraction (hair) a more radical suggestion would be for you to consider purchasing the "Essentials 2" plug-in, by OnOne. The "Cut It Out" module is an excellent utility for making these type of extractions. This software is regularly advertised in PET, and you can read more about it there.:)

I already looked into it

Their example copies a background to the picture, I have to go the oposite way, I need to read more on this plugin before I spend $60.00

I am not sure what you saw...I think the demo with the little girl blowing bubbles? The point was that that little girl (and hair) was first extracted from another background and then placed on a new background. The point of the demo, however, was the extraction of the girl (and her hair) from another background. The placement on the new background was conducted back in PSE.

I have no financial or other interest in Essentials 2 (I am not a "paid endorser"), but I am just telling you that the "Cut It Out" module of Essentials (there are three others) is an incredible selection tool for complex extractions. I think you can take it for a "test drive" for 30 free of charge. Once you use it you will be hooked:) Clarke
