I just changed step 3 to: Run the Unsharpen Mask three times.

After experimenting with 4 or 5 photos, I've figured out that it takes just the right picture. Here's my least worst! :D

This seems to work best on a simple subject with a plain background. I used Enhance/Adjust Sharpness and ran up the Amount to almost 200% and the Radius to 48 pixels. Play around with this setting. I also unchecked the More Refined box. Here's another go at it.
