Hi Rachel ...

Try this:

Close down Elements ...
Then go to Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Locale\ en-US.
Put the MediadatabaseOLD.db3 in the trash
... and restart Elements.
The database will rebuild but you may have to wait a while for it to do so.

Hi Windy

Here's a variation on theme - same problem, mulitple user accounts - I'm hoping you can help.

Is there a way for the database to be rebuilt so multiple (all) accounts/users on the same computer are able log into their respective account and see and use the effects, themes, and artwork from the pallette bin?

I'm using PSE6 on a Mac w/snow leopard set up with three user accounts - one "with" admin privileges, the other two "without". If I'm logged on as a user "without" and follow the same procedure you outlined to rebuild the database, nothing happens. If I log back in as "with", the database rebuilds itself and the effects, themes, artwork now appear, when logged in as "with". Success - or so I tought. If I log out and log back in as "without", the effects do not appear on the "without" acccounts.

To experiment, if one of the "without" accounts is changed to a "with (so there are now two accounts with admin privileges) if the database file is deleted while logged in as the second "with" account, elements does rebuild the database and then the effects, etc are visible for the user. Logging off that "with" account and then logging in as the first "with" user, the effects, etc are now gone for the first "with" account once again.

Is there a way for the database to be rebuilt so multiple (all) accounts/users on the same computer are able log into their respective account and see and use the effects, themes, and artwork from the pallette bin?

Thanks so much!

PJT

Hi ..

... and welcome to the Village :)

You do have to be signed on to the Admin account for some of these things to show up properly and to work ... and I don't think that you can find a workaround for that.

I use the Admin account all the time so this isn't a problem for me ..
