I'm thinking of upgrading to PSE 8 and Snow Leopard on my Mac Book Pro.
I do giclees and I have an action that lets me see a soft-proof of the artwork on particular paper types with my printer. Presently I have PSE 6. I wonder if PSE 8 will recognize this action.
I'm wondering how people feel about PSE 8 and Snow Leopard.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Donna ...
I don't know if the action will work or not but I understand that there are some issues with Snow Leopard and color Management.

Hi Donna,
I've just moved from 6 to 8 on Snow Leopard and I've had problems with some of the [granted, ancient] actions that I used under 6 but won't work under 8.
I also had a problem with printing using manufacturer and custom printer profiles but got around it by dragging the relevant ICC files into one of Adobe's folders in the Finder.
Other than that it's been plain sailing and PSE8 has the added bonus that the version of Camera Raw opened up in Bridge CS4 by right clicking or CMD+R is the full version rather than Elements reduced version.
I'm not sure that helps you at all, as I suspect you'd just have to try installing your action to see if it works or not.

Thanks to Wendy and Electric Shepherd for the information. Maybe I'll wait a bit to upgrade. I don't suppose PSE 8 has a way of soft proofing?

I have Snow Leopard and just installed PSE 8. I'm wondering where I would find the relevant ICC files to drag into an Adobe folder in Finder?
I'm not too techie. I'm assuming this is something that needs to be done?
TIA!

Hi Debbie, they're found along the following path MacHD>Library>ColorSync>Profiles, copy them into Adobe's folder and all should be good, I had to do this myself.
To the original poster, I've recently installed the Elements+ set of actions and they include a soft-proofing action which works well with a custom printer profile I have [plus the manufacturer profiles].

Electric Shepherd, thank you for your reply. I understand how to find the file using your path, but I'm not sure which Adobe folder to put the file in?
I have Adobe folders in Finder, and also in Applications. Are they the same folders, but just located in two different places?
TIA! Debbie

I've had numerous problems with printing on my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 since I installed Snow Leopard. After going through a ton of paper and ink, talking to Epson and Apple, downloading drivers i was pretty frustrated. Then just for the heck of it I printed my photos from IPHOTO and they were almost as good as shown on the monitor and 100% better than printing them from Elements 6 for MAC. I think that Snow Leopard and Elements 6 are not working so good. I will be checking with Adobe before I install Elements 8. You can count on that. JusJerry

Hi JusJerry ...
The problem really isn't with Adobe its with Apple ... I'm hanging on and hoping that the update to Snow Leopard fixes the problem. Apple are aware of it so hopefully it won't be too long. :)

I am having color management problems, too. Can't figure out whether to have PSE 8 or printer do color management.
Downloaded new driver 6.12 from EPSON: Apple help and EPSON help said that the driver that comes with SnowLeop is a 'lite' version made by Apple.
Didn't help color management, though.
Any suggestions?
Ronnie
