Hi Carl ...
Is this a new install ... or have you been using it OK up to now and its just stopped working ??

I have a PC with Windows XP - I can open PSE this way:
start> all programs> Adobe PSE
(I don't know if this is your problem, but it's worth a try before you go through the trouble of a re-install)
Sometimes the programs list is not completely alphabetical. If it's not at the top of your programs list alphabetically, look further down the list. I don't know why it does it, but programs list gets out of alphabetical order.
If you find the correct listing, and you are able to open PSE, right click on the listing and choose "send shortcut to desktop"
You may have to delete the shortcut that is already on the desktop before you can add a new shortcut. If you don't want to delete it because you are unsure about all this, just change the name of the current icon - and then set a new shortcut. After you find the new one works, right click on the old icon and choose "delete"

You may need to install the licensing-service update:

John - that's a new one for me
Actually glad I haven't had to learn about that one. ;)
BTW - Your FAQ list is awesome. Thanks for that list.

Carl, you might want to explain in more detail, exact what happens (if anything) when you double click the desktop icon.
Does any thing happen? Do you get an error message? Does it start to load/show the splash screen, then quit?
And as to Wendy's question, did it ever work? Did you install something new lately, e.g., software, plug-in, even a new porntier?
Remember when you have a problem, more information is better!
