Hello All,
I am working with a mac book pro and have Photoshop elements 6.0. I have been thrown in ten different directions trying to make CD/DVD labels. I am getting no where. Can you make them on PSE6. Should I buy the software Disklabel 6 (attached below) and bag trying on the PSE6

Hi Scott ..

I don't use labels on the DVDs as they can cause problems but I make my own case inserts. All I did was measure the cases then created a simple template to which I just add photos, text etc. Its pretty easy to do

Scott,

What brand of label stock do you have? That manufacturer probably offers a free or cheap label-printing program.

I use a free version of MediaFACE, because I have a supply of NEATO labels. I just prepare my image in PSE, save it as a JPG, and then find it from within MediaFACE when creating my label.

Yes, both Neato and Avery have free templates that you can use in other software like appleworks, word, or pages if you don't have any other way to do it. The PSE option is more for designing your label than for printing it on the precut stock.

EDIT But it's a bad idea to use a stick-on label on any disc you plan to put into a computer. You can wreck the drive if the label comes loose and gets stuck on something in there.

Where I live we had a local hospital that closed and at the action I bought very cheap a Zeus 7T-Net Automated 7-Drive Standalone/Networked CD DVD Publishing Systems with 600 disc capacity and Teac P-55 Photorealistic Thermal Printer. This also came with 2000 plus DVD and 600 CD with the labels that are already on the CD/DVD plus all the refills. At this point I do not know who makes the CD/DVD they were all in a box with plastic wrap around the full packs the open packs were in the bottom. No name on them anywhere. When I print from I tunes it will print the album cover on the CD if I set it to. Now for DVD I am trying to find the best template or system that will work for DVD's for my video and photo slide shows. I am sure they will print I just need to find a way to make them.

Scott,

Sounds like you've got a pretty sophisticated set-up! From your description, I'd guess those discs are the ones that you print on directly - not that you're printing onto a label which must then be applied to the disc. I have an Epson printer which does direct printing on printable discs -- it came with its own software for printing onto discs.

I'd suggest you also search the web for information related to your specific equipment to see how others might be using the same gear.

You can download free label SW from Avery and obtain cd/dvd labels at most stores.
