Sorry if this has been asked a 1000x. I did do a search but didn't find anything. I shoot RAW and have about 4600 photo files on my hard drive. Hard drive capacity is 227GB and currently have 98GB free space. I do have an external hard drive but I like to be able to see what I've shot over the past 6 months or so. Questions are:

1. I have no concept of space on a computer so don't know if I'm taxing it with the amount of photo files I have.

2. Was not having the problems with constant crashing until I started shooting in RAW. Have taken steps to correct the crashing by changing the processor affinity to only 1 CPU. Seemed to work for a while but now organizer constantly freezes up when I send files to the Editor.

3. Can PSE be run from an EHD? Thanks for your input.

You have 98 GB of free disk space, which is enough to store roughly 7,000 raw photos. In other words, you have more than enough free space.

PSE is quite happy with photos stored on an external hard drive.

I recommend re-applying the raw-file workaround for PSE 6:

http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403728

Then recreate the Organizer's thumbnail cache by deleting the file "thumb .5.cache", as described in step 5 of this FAQ:

If these don't work, then post back here.
