Need some advice on how to correct a problem I'm having when I try to preview a slideshow that has transitions activated. The following message appears: An unknown error -'2147221164' occurred while initializing preview.
If there are no transitions, the slideshow works.
I'm using Windows XP pro edition on my computer.

Hi... welcome to the forums :)

The first thing to try here is the standard troubleshooting step in PSE which is to reset the Preferences file...

Start PSE in Editor and straightaway hold down the Ctrl-Alt-Alt keys. When the dialogue box appears answer yes.

Then see if that has cured the problem.

Let us know how you get on...

I was unable to get any dialogue box when I started PSE 4.0 in Editor while holding down the Ctrl-Alt-Alt keys. I even tried holding down the Ctrl-Shift-Alt keys and was not able to get a dialogue box.
I am not upgrading from a previous version of PSE.

Hi...

Sorry... it's not Ctrl-Alt-Atl... but Shift-Ctrl-Alt :o :o :o

You need to be quick when doing this... try holding the three keys down before you launch PSE...

Hi Mike
I did the Shift-Ctrl-Alt when starting PSE and got a dialogue box that stated if I wanted to delete the Adobe Elements settings file. Do I click yes or no?

Yes, you do.

Ed,

Click Yes - then PSE will load normally. Once Editor has loaded then go to Organizer and see if this has cured the slide show problem.

Let us know how you get on...

Clicked Shift-Ctrl-Alt keys right after double clicking the PSE icon on my desk and got the Open Catalog screen. Do you have any other suggestions.

Ed,

Open Catalog screen..? Ok.. did you try to open the default Catalog?

Opened the catalogs screen but did not resolve my problem.
Do you have any other suggestions. I have a Canon utility called Zoombrowser on my computer that came with my Canon digital camera. I am able to create a slideshow using transitions without any problems. Could there be a conflict between these two programs?

Ed,

Sorry for the delay in replying... work took me away for a few days...

I haven't heard of any conflicts between PSE and Zoombrowser, but if you aren't using the Canon software it is worth deleting it and checking.

Let me know how you get on...
