Earlier I was joking with Ray as to whether I should go out in the freezing cold or buy a new lens. Instead I have decided to do some work on my web pages. I have now added a tutorial "Creating Actions for Elements" It is can be reached by clicking on "Rolling Your Own" from the tools site or more directly here:
http://www.cavesofice.org/~grant/Challenge/Tools/Create.html
While it may be a bit technical for some, others may get something from it.
Now on to writing some tuts ....

Now, that's going to inspire a few of us to make actions for our Elements friends, n'est-ce pas ? (won't it ?) :D

Grant:
Thanks - I'm going to have to slip round and visit my local photoshop and borrow their photoshop to give that a try.
It did remind me of one question that I've been meaning to ask the Photoshop experts. Effects like Frames that come with Elements appear to be actions but finish up flattening everything so you don't have layers to play with afterwards. That's a distinct limitation with several of the frames. Could I edit them with Photoshop and change them so that I get left with the layers to play with?

Yep, you can open Elements 3 action in Photoshop CS 2 (that's the test I did). Certain commands are different though, keep that in mind. But I took the wood frame and removed the flatten command. It worked :)

Thanks Ray. I'll have to try that. Some of those frames are rather useless because you can't adjust the frame width. I know you can always "roll your own" but applying an effect is quicker! Maybe my imagination but I do recall that earlier PSE versions left the layers in place.

Hi Tony,
It all depends on how they write the action :)
